Absolutely agree. It rankles with me when loyal customers are excluded from being rewarded. Foxtel are dreadful like that.
I applied for the card using the link and was accepted. Will wait for the paperwork as I didn't see the points offer anywhere.
Thanks for that.
I tried to open an account online and got the following:
"We had difficulties creating your account. We'll continue to process your application and get in contact with you within 24 hours."
Guess I'll wait to see what happens.
Hey Dr Ralph,
Had exactly the same message, didn't even get to the verification stage. Seems like they may have system issues. post if there is a resolution for you and i'll do the same.
Got a message 24 hrs later which told me to go to a branch to finalise the account creation. Useless. I wont be doing this.

that sucks, mine was just accepted. I just need to decide whether to go to the altitude or altitude black card, i could use the lounge passes and higher earn rate for my $2.5k min spend.
I was also successful in signing up without the need to visit a branch - applied online yesterday and received the same/a similar email to Dr Ralph, then today I was sent my account details. I had to call up to get my CN and a temporary password to access the account online for the first time - but that only took a few minutes.
I am thinking I will just go with the basic Altitude card and skip the platinum and black - My spend will be mostly on visa (I may miss 0.125/$ or 312.5 points on $2.5K, but I also wont tie up $15k of credit) and I have no plan to spend with QF to trigger the lounge passes.
Is there a reason to go with either of the other 2 offerings that I am missing?
The platinum has a higher QFF points cap (7,500/statement cycle), while the black is uncapped. Both platinum and black also come with 'complimentary insurance covers' while the basic Altitude card does not.
Hi Ralph,
I'm curious - I recall you have had a number of ANZ cards in the past. My experience with them is I had to attend a branch to identify myself and activate the cards - did you have to undertake this process? If so, what is the difference here?
ATO payments will be treated similar to cash equivalent transactions in that cash equivalent transactions are not typically eligible for points earn. While customers will no longer earn points on payments made to the ATO using their base credit card (VISA and MasterCard) , points can still be earned at reduced rates on payments to the ATO using the American Express companion card.
In relation to the eligible spend to earn the bonus points, eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account.
So payments to ATO doesn't count towards the $2500 spending required to trigger the 50k points.
Applied yesterday - approved this morn - gotta love CC sign on bonii hey?
