We need to wait until the mail comes from March 25th. If there is still a cap that does not work then there are 6 Visa/ MasterCards you can try and several co-branded American Express cards that will work.

Got the letter the other day.

I might increase my limit on my WOW's ERD CC.

It's a mastercard, with a $1:1point earn, which everybody excepts without surcharge. However, no insurance. Will probably drop the Westpac CC.

Got my letter this week with the offer of Earth Black Cards, the limit shouldn't bother me too much.

Interestingly, my letter didn't say anything about "won't have an impact on you", however also didn't even mention the Black cards! Seems I'm totally unimportant.

Credit limit of about 10K, Platinum Plus, have held the Earth account since the cards were first launched as Earth+ about 7 or 8 years ago and have a home loan with Westpac. Not valued, though.

So I've just received the letter and will be offered the Black card. It's called Black World MasterCard and Amex card. 1.25 per $ in Australia and 3 points overseas. Amex is 3 points anywhere.

Pushka you need to divide Westpac points by two so their new MasterCard at 0.625 real points is quite useless if you compare it with Woolworths EDR or 5 others that pay a real point per dollar.

Thanks cove. I'll look into that. I suffer from Bank inertia but am always open to better ideas.

My favourite combo was Earth Plat Plus Amex 1.5:$1 and WWEDR MC 1:$1, that was of course until Westpac pulled this stunt, now looking at NAB or ANZ for the Amex.

I havent got any letters too. Then again I only got the card last month.

Westpac Earth Platinum Plus credit card point earn

I (self and wife) have Westpac Earth Platinum Plus Credit Cards. I probably spend between $10,000 to $15,000 per month. With a mix of Amex (1.5 points/$) and MasterCard (0.5 points/$) it "works out" that I now earn about 10,000 to 15,000 Qantas points each month (120,00 to 180,000 p.a.). Just received a letter from Westpac saying that as from my cycle beginning late June 2013 I will then be restricted to earning 3,750 points per statement cycle (I take that to be per month). That is a loss of 75,000 to 135,000 p.a.! I always thought I was onto a good thing with Westpac but this a hard to cop. Where is the next best place to go? Why havn't I been reading about this on line or in the papers?

NAB qantas premium card is one option. Capped at $100000 a month. ANZ also have an uncapped card. However, there were some comments that they might introduce a cap next.

I'm concerned that you use the earth MasterCard for spend. Your much better off to get a 1 point per $ card from elsewhere. Everyday rewards MasterCard is rather good. Jetstar MasterCard (but they are rather painful to deal with) or some of the Citibank Visa cards. Use these as a backup to increase your points earns when Amex isn't accepted.

Newk, after meeting you for a drink the other day I can honestly say that you would believe it to be such bad Karma to send such a letter out to customers such as Westpac have... which reminds me, shame we cant discuss this in more detail on April 13 :(, but there will be another time for sure...

Question is do you think I will get a call from them when they receive their letter back with lots of little pieces of their cards back...?

I wonder if they will call me before I call them...?

Rubbish card offers belong in the rubbish...!
