In addition to the Earth Plat Plus card, I also have the Altitude Plat Plus card...I will be asking them to swap this card to the Platinum Kris Flyer Amex, otherwise I'm cancelling this as well!

The questions remains, how long until the Platinum Kris Flyer Amex is also reviewed. Given they have revised all other products I'd assume it's just a matter of time until the Kris Flyer is revised as well. Unless they've struck a better deal with SQ and they're trying to push direct volume to the Kris Flyer card...

Perhaps it doesn't get hammered as much as these others, so there was no need to change it. That may change if people suddenly took it up and made it less profitable for them.

I know...:(

Also noway Westpac would increase the fees because even more people (ie including non AFFers) would complain and jump ship.

They're going to jump ship anyway - Nab same fee, cap that is 40x larger. Now the Nab card used to have $295 fee and the ANZ still does. So westpac certainly had scope to increase fees. With the new cap they should cut the annual fee to less than the $89 charged for the EDR card. It will be interesting to see how ANZ move, any cap greater than $2500 per month should see them grabbing westpac customers.

The fact remains that this cap is going to impact all customers not just those paying the ATO. It's a sledgehammer being used to crack a walnut.

Am I missing something here...? What's to discuss with these "enhanced" credit card programs...?

Call up, speak to cancellations, cancel

Sometimes simple problems have simple solutions, better to put effort into looking for the "future" cards than dwell on those in the past...

my 2c worth anyway

Only the Qantas Amex Ultimate. And then only if you've already got one.

Yes, I've noticed that the QF Amex Ultimate is no longer being offered, though if you've already got one, they seem to be renewing with them (I hope!)

Indeed. All I need to discuss is credit of missing bonus points and, as it turns out ,a debit that SWMBO set up.

Unbelievable!!! 3750 QF Pts cap / month for the Earth Plat Plus card......what are they smoking??

It is actually from June 17th!!

Thanks for that, edited in my post but I don't know how to change that in title.

Earning and redeeming Altitude rewards points on all Altitude credit cards
For how and when you earn Altitude rewards points and how you redeem them, see the Altitude Rewards Terms and Conditions and visit altituderewards.com.au. No points expiry while you remain an Altitude card holder. Effective for each statement cycle commencing on and from 17 June 2013, a points cap of 20,000 points applies. Bonus points do not count towards the points cap.

Even business altitude gold gets screwed down.

Sorry to spoil your plan but please read the followings

Special promotions (balance transfers and introductory bonus miles) do not apply to customers who obtain Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum cards as part of a package, switch or upgrade from an existing Westpac card, or to customers accessing Westpac employee benefits.

I plan to physically return the inactivated cards to a Westpac branch, get them to sign off for it before I apply for the Kris Flyer Plat one week later.

I'm not after "balance transfers and introductory bonus miles" but the ability to earn 1.5 KrisFlyer miles per $1 spent UNCAPPED!

Well, each to his own, I guess.

I am after both actually.

Free bonus for joining - cannot see why I would decline / jeopardize that.

Some day my Saver booking may need to be done in Standard / Full and that bonus may make a difference.

Apparently there is a new uncapped card coming soon. *shrugs. Probably cough.

But yeah people will now pay $250 for capped plat card lol with max 3750 per cycle. which is terrible!

only fools will pay, 99.9% of people on here will vote with their feet

But is there some good news from this story...? Perhaps Cove will be a few cards lighter and wont need to move to a third card wallet after these changes :cool::shock:

Got home this evening to find a letter from Westpac formally announcing tne changing Ts and Cs and the new points cap affecting the Westpac Altitude Plat Plus card:evil::evil::evil:

I sent a strongly worded email to my personal manager (or whatever he's called) and he replied to say there's a new product coming out for premium customers. I shall wait to see what this lovely new product is before seriously applying for a new card, however, I don't think it will stop me going ahead with a new card...

(I worked out I got 168k points from WBC over the last 12 months - the capping would reduce it to 45k. Ridiculous!)

I received letter tonite. Changing effevtive from 4 July 2013. However, they said i will soon receive an invitation to increase my points-earning potential for no additional cost, with the introduction of their new premium Altitude Black Credit cards, which are Altitude Black World MasterCard and Altitude Black American Express Card. Altitude Black gives uncapped points and 1.25 points use Mastercard within Australia, 3 points at Overseas. Same 3 points when using AMEX card. Invitation will be received prior to 4 July 2013.
