Sarge1 can you see the conversion rate from Citi rewards to KF?

That sucks

It is why most of my VISA spend now goes onto the KF card.

However any JB HiFi spend still goes onto my Citibank Card due to extra bonus points that it earns there which more than offset the transfer rate of less than 1.

When I reach 15,000 points and I am not far off now I wil transfer it to KF as 10K at KF is worth a lot more to me than 15 K at QF as I redeem J savers with SQ....or J *A Awards.

Consider that when you transfer points to KF the 3 year expiry clock starts ticking. Depending upon your burning rate this could be a factor.

Thanks.

However I am burning 4-8 J Savers per year at present so 10K is not really a factor.

My main store of points is "kept" at Amex for this reason though.

Received this in the post, as well as being referred the below link from a friend,

The Westpac SQ platinum CC ... 20K KF sign up bonus, and first year annual fee is halved. so $125 for 20K KF points is a good deal IMO, almost enough points to redeem a one way SYD-SIN in economy. Apply and be approved by 9 June.

Hmm, for existing SQ KF Plat card holder who's account is up for renewal. Do you think Westpac would allow for cancellation then "re-sign-up"?

I will give Westpac Plat line a buzz on Monday and see what their response is...

Whilst it is offering 20K points instead of 10K points last year, this time there is no 3 points per dollar spend on Amex.

Rang to negotiate the fee being waived and was told that it was not possible. I then mentioned the amount I put through the card and the Westpac lady said, "yes, I can see that. After the payment takes place, call back up and one of the managers will work something out"
My renewal date is the 26th of May so we will have to wait, unless someone else comes up first, to see if we can get it refunded.

Look forward to hearing the outcome.

Also, there is a 50% voucher each year upon renewal which has variable value depending upon your planned redemptions.

Save up to 25,000 KrisFlyer miles after year one
After every year, you'll be rewarded with a special thank you for your loyalty to your Singapore Airlines Westpac Cards - for example, after you've had your card for one year, you'll receive a renewal gift voucher7 that allows you to enjoy a 50% discount (up to a maximum of 25,000 KrisFlyer miles for Platinum) off an economy saver redemption ticket or upgrade
.

This platinum card has generated some measure of excitement in our family because the points are easier to redeem for business class or better flights.
We now have enough points for at least 8 longhaul return flights and my first business class flight was a beauty.

I'm wondering (hoping) that we will see other banks get on the KF wagon. Along with the anniversary perhaps Westpac may loose the exclusivity of their deal opening up introductory deals from other banks.

Actually, 20K bonus points offers more flexibility than the voucher... I prefer $125 saving + points than the 25K voucher itself. Just my opinion :-) I tend to redeem for standard J rather than J savers out of MEL... Prefer 77W and 388 than 777.

Ok. Call WestPac Plat line. The lady over the phone was very helpful and pleasant.

Option 1. In order to get the "bonus", you do have to "cancel" and "re-join". It can all be done over the phone

Option 2. Fee waived for next year + the 50% off or up-to-25k-points-off voucher.

Monster-in-law... errr... Mom-in-law is wanting to go to Taiwan for National Day in October... I am going to be the GOOD SON and give her a "free" Y return... Mother's Day solved plus I get to save 25K points + annual fee!
