What are airports missing?

Fully Agree.
Public transport can dent parking extortion - I am waiting for UberAirport to set up airport to nearest train station hops
I recon airport food places pay 50% of whatever to the airport. I carry a cup and a mini boiler to neutralize $4 cups of tea or coffee. Sometimes a leave it there toastie/jaffle maker from the salvos($5) for a group. Thankfully the in-floor recessed powerpoints share a commonish masterkey:p

In BKK, I know where the Magic Restaurant for airport staff is hidden - just follow the Chinese tours.

KLIA2 is now not cheap and Changi is just overpriced completely. In SGN I buy nothing, other than tropical fruit that gets past the no liquids point. Again with a water boiler, no revenue for them.

Just wear 'em ... anything worn has no weight ... :p

My armless fleecy vest 3 sizes too big has a few extra slits and pockets and will fit wet clothes, and always needed when I arrive in cold miserable Melbourne.Fits heavy camera lenses and batteries too.

Still, if you are a woman with a pram or stroller, Scoot in T4 will discriminate and weigh these.

In Thailand one can get hot water for tea/coffee/noodles from 7Eleven for 1 baht. Do we have anything similar here?

Yes, had to go put on 3 layers in the bathroom once as my winter clothing needed for the destination weighed too much. Apparently they weigh nothing on your body... or in the bag as I took them off straight after the weigh in, in front of the staff, giving them the evil eye

I don't think I've seen anything in an Australian airport for hot water. There are some water taps in MEL at least. They're even FREE! The board running MEL must be going soft these days. I wonder if any of the cafes/McDonald's would provide hot water for a token fee?

In China, it's pretty common to see free hot water dispensers in airports and train stations for use as drinking water, tea (BYO leaves and bottle/cup) or instant noodles. Some of them even provide cold water, which isn't so popular with the locals.

No and never will - because you know - someone could get burnt, or a child scalded, or cause a floor spill, or the water could catch fire and - lawyers have active imaginations .. I am still puzzled by the hide the powerpoint game, but there are some outside or near the loos or used in unoccupied gates further on . If they are too aggressive vending machines will be unplugged, but they have wised up to this too.

I do think a shirt or steam presser is the missing winner.
A hunky male doing women's professional makeup would also be a winner, but not Napoleon Perdis
Hell a roller coaster is also a thought, as lets admit it and airport is really an amusement park with some runway thingies attached.
But if the rent is $x per sqm, those wants would be unprofitable, and detract from spending time at other shops. This is why airports are content with unused space and slow 'services'.

I wish airports here have better communications. Easy to get to without having to drive or get a taxi.

Like Copenhagen, the train stops underneath the International check-in hall, just take the escalator from the train up to the ground floor and you are there. Would make life so much easier when you dont want to drive.

Melbourne airport used to have a post office, was a handy service. Hair dresser would be great I reckon though I do know a lot of people get nervous they will miss their flight so would probably be too nervous to use one!

The post office closed because the postie van could not stop (be left unattended) to go into the shop to collect the mail

Surely this isn't the only reason? I would have thought it would have been cost based. They could have figured something out to pick up the mail. Call the shop and get them to bring it out?

My wish list:
a quiet area! No TV, children or other noisy people
the ability to walk through the airport without walking through a 'duty-free' shop (' ' because prices are not always HighSt minus duty price): by the time I get through I am so annoyed I do not want to go anywhere near the shop so defeats the purpose of forcing pax through. Even wide 'pathways' are not good because of all the shoppers who stand in gaggles blocking the thoroughfare
arrivals lounge for all those early monring long haul flights
good public transport (ZRH has tram and train)
express lanes that work
