I have been using a dedicated eReader for years - they're so much smaller (can hold them in one hand) and the battery lasts a lot longer than a tablet. Perfect for when you're hanging around for flights, flights are delayed, and so on. I don't like the back-light effect from tablets for when I'm reading, although you do need a separate light source for the eReader. Not sure what's next - I'll probably revert to some e-books on my tablet as that's my go-to when travelling rather than lugging kilos of books around
MrsK and I have gone down the Kobo route, so we're not locked into the Kindle/Amazone universe, and use Calibre to manage the books, as well as buying them from the Kobo store.
