.... and Al Gore AND many others :!:No, just proof that Deben is a hypocrite.

Moody,
Are you saying that anyone who has an opinion different to yours is ludicrous :?:
There is a huge proportion of the scientific community that do not agree with the doom and gloom prognosis attributed to climate change.
Many to most people accept man made climate change but many of those do not agree with the 'popular belief' outcomes.I don't think it's a huge proportion that deny the probability of man-made climate change, ie much greater than 50%. It might be a big number maybe but it's a small proportion.
Cheers
FAir comment, but the "insurance" analogy is still relevant. Many to most people accept man made climate change but many of those do not agree with the 'popular belief' outcomes.
Believe it or not there is are many scientists who dispute the 'popular beliefs' but don't have the funding and hence the publicity.
Agreed.FAir comment, but the "insurance" analogy is still relevant.
cheers
Agreed.
Buying the correct insurance is very important.
This is a send-up, isn't it? I mean of all the most ludicrous denialist statements, this one is pure gold!

I think you need to talk to a few scientists then. There are many respected scientists who don't agree with the 'popular idealism' but just don't get the funding or publicity. And the proportion of the scientific community who dispute the evidence of man-made climate change is close to zero; and even they are discredited crackpots.
This is not black letter hard science so there is substantial debate about the cause, effect and quantum of any changes. I think there are many, ie a large number, but a small proportion.Really??? Who exactly are these "many respected scientists" and by whom are they "respected"?

I
[Sigh]. No - that's not what I said. Why are you even suggesting that? {Rhetorical question alert}
What is patently ludicrous is to claim global warming is good because fewer homeless poeple will then freeze to death in winter. How much warmer would it have to be to achieve significant impact to these stats? 5 degrees?? 10???
Do you have any idea of the catastrophic impact that 10 degrees of warming would produce? Sorry - you really will have to take your fingers out of your ears if we are going to have an adult conversation. (That's "adult" used in the traditional sense, and not the modern usage to describe the most pathetically inept government in Australian history)
The funniest thing that people with your attitude say is the Climate change sceptics are the Flat earth society. However it was the consensus of the scientists of the time that the earth was flat.Only the sceptics thought it was round.
Some evidence please.
The earth 11700 years ago warmed 4C in 10 years. In this last century it has warmed 0.85C.
The Woolly Mammoths didn't survive but man, polar bears and penguins did.

Ok Moody if you are so sure you are right how about some facts instead of just regurgitating alarmist propaganda.
And sorry about your sea rise.Scientists suggest it will take 100000 years for all the Antarctic ice sheet to melt.Except that the next Glacial period is reckoned to happen somewhere between 25000-50000 years from now.
And tell me how many South pacific islands are getting smaller due to the rise in sea levels?

Sorry but as a person with a couple of scientific degrees who was skeptical of climate change, my opinion of climate change has changed.
So sorry if I disagree with a pilot with no scientific training.
I continually ask people older then me about weather patterns and they constantly tell me weather patterns have changed.
