What cheeses me off

Last year we were in the Malaysian business lounge in the dining room. Woman next to us was zooming on her laptop, she had earphones on but we could hear everything that she was saying. It was a financial business meeting. Everyone around was watching her so I leant over and said that we could hear everything she was saying. She was shocked, clearly oblivious at the time, packed up and was out of the lounge in seconds. Reckon she was worried about what we'd heard. 😂
Another strategy is, after the call, just lean in and say I missed a bit of that. Could you mind repeating the details?

Took daughter to school and wife to work this morning and came back home at 9:00am to start working. No internet. I just checked email at 8:50am before coming upstairs.

I think internet came back around 10:30am so I'd lost 90 minutes of work time and I couldn't do anything else.

Check Optus and no mention of outages in my area this morning. Bloody hell Optus. Not good enough as I rely on your stupid service to work.

Went to the Nike Outlet at DFO today as I needed to replace a very much-loved pair of runners and they were doing a 40% off sale for Nike Members. Had to queue to get in, then once inside it was manic. Every 5-10 minutes, someone would come over the PA and to remind customers that the 40% off was for Nike Members and to please make sure you had your Nike Member card/app ready to go when you arrived at the register. The queue for the registers was MASSIVE and super slow moving, namely because of all the imbeciles who turned up to the registers, had their items scanned at full price, and then wondered why they weren't getting 40% off? Staff dutifully informed them it's a Members' sale and that if they scanned their card, the discount would apply. Of course, these people didn't have an account, so the entire queue goes into a holding pattern whilst they download the app, register for an account etc and eventually scan for their discount and finally depart the store.

Gripe #1 - people failing to follow simple - and repeated - instructions.
Gripe #2 - Nike staff failing to walk along the queue and ensure people had their Nike app / card ready to go in order to mitigate the issues at the registers.

Something happened last night and I just can't get it off my mind.

Went to Aussie World. As we were leaving around 8:30pm daughter wanted fairy floss. The cart was there on the way out. Around 12-15 people in queue, maybe more. So daughter goes in queue and wife and I sitting down near the cart.

Wait and wait and finally my daughters turn.

This man comes up and says your daughter hasn't paid. I think he was either staff or security but can't tell.

Ok, so we'll pay now for a fairy floss.

No. We don't have a till. The line was cut off before your daughter.

I'm now angry. We've been in queue for 30+ minutes and they think it's OK to tell us now the queue is cut off already. This is not how you treat people. This is not how you treat a 7 year old. I'm angry and walk away and wife and daughter follow but wife wants to go back. Leave them alone and let's get out of here. Silly wife still bought daughter fairy floss pack in shop on way out.

If this maggot parading as a human being knew that queue was cut off in front of my daughter why wouldn't he tell us that they're not taking any further orders for fairy floss. We had no idea they'd finished taking orders and he would have seen my wife go to daughter in queue many times but the tough guy waited until my daughters turn to bully a 7 year old.

This is why I lose faith in humanity. This is just so wrong.

Not having much luck.

Noticed a $489.41 charge on my 28 Degrees from Jetstar and it includes booking reference.

Called Jetstar to confirm booking is not in my name and called Latitude to report the fraudulent transaction.

Note my email address on the 28 Degrees credit card has not been changed, phone number the same. How did someone make a Jetstar booking in another name without an OTP or any sort of authentication especially given booking name is not same as credit card name? Inside job? How did 28 Degrees authorise this transaction?

Anyway now need to wait for new card again.

How annoying. It might interest you to know that banks don't verify names when making payments... just the card and expiry, plus CCV if enabled. For my business I can enable a check to ensure the card name matches the customer name, but I imagine this is not feasible for airlines where people often book on behalf of someone else. Hope the new card comes quickly.

Thanks. I've had Latitude/28 degrees send me OTP to verify a £1 transaction yet nothing for this transaction.

We talk about 2FA everywhere but Latitude has allowed a transaction close to $500 slip right through.

How can a $300+ package just go awol? Now seem to be lost. Looks like time I filed a theft case with Feds or NSW Police?

Completely useless response from AP.

There is an update to your enquiry

Hi TMA,

Thank you for contacting us, I have an update on the next steps for your enquiry.

Tracking number: EBxx_x

Outcome of enquiry: Parcel awaiting border clearance
Recommendation: Monitor tracking for further updates

After a review of the parcel information for article EBxx_x, I’m happy to advise that your article has arrived in Australia, but has not been released for delivery to Australia Post.

The parcel has been going through border clearance processes and will then handed to Australia Post for local delivery. As border clearance processing is outside of our control, I'm unable to advise of a time when the parcel will be cleared into the country, nor is there anything I can do to expedite the clearance. We normally expect this process to take no longer than 15 business days.

The sender has started an investigation with Poste Italiane and they have reached out to us. There is an investigation in place and Poste Italiane will be notified of the outcome as well. The item has not been deemed lost, it is still awaiting clearance.

I trust this information has helped clarify what you can expect next to happen with your item. If you haven’t already you can view information about import restrictions to Australia here: International post guide
I hope that this information has helped, and you enjoy the rest of your day.

There's no need to respond to this email.

Kind Regards,
xx_x

Easy to use a paint colour mini spectrograph to find the correct colours? Paint shops and Bunnings have them and also some available for iPhone which give an approximate reading.

Boy they have really been trying to find out WCMO in the last couple of days.
First people walking straight out of a shop without looking. A couple of close calls yesterday then a woman walked straight into me. No apology.

Second. People on Sydney trains taking up 2-3 seats. Worst an old fellow who had his backpack on one seat so he could lean on it with his butt on the second seat and legs on the third seat seat. Nearly applauded when a young Indian guy came and sat on his legs making him move. And today 2 men spreading legs wide taking up the 4 seats in the front part of the carriage.

Third parents who show no interest in keeping their young children under control. Happened on VA coming home. 2 boys one over 2 one just under 2. Screaming and yelling virtually non stop. I swapped seats with Mrsdrron as they were in her row. As well constantly kicking the seats in front . On top of that standing on the seats and looking into row in front or behind and screaming their lungs out. Mum meanwhile looked at her phone most of the time.

Yep. I now take photos on my phone. However I had an amazing experience at Bunnings of all places a month ago. I was repairing a wall and had a chunk of the old paint colour on a piece of the wall lining I removed. The woman at the paint section spent I'd say, 20 minutes adding this tint and that tint and checked each time. She was finally happy. The colour match she made was absolutely perfect. The wall was originally painted 12 years ago when being built in an apartment block.

Tightly wrapped soaps in hotels. 🤬
Toilet paper where the first sheet can't be easily released and you have to remove a few sheets to get to the 'start'.

Me.

A bit overly dramatic, but I sometimes wonder if I should have been a mother.
Sadly it's the people who don't ask themselves that who are the ones who maybe might have/should have made a different decision.

We thought parenting toddlers was exhausting. Then there's a quiet period. And then, the teen years hit. A whole new board game.

WCMO. People (drivers) in cars three back from the red light and who are clearly fiddling with their phones. Light turns green. They sit. Fiddling. Leave a gap then suddenly accelerate. They get the lights. You don't.
