If it’s a Pacific Koel I don’t think it’s about you DRRON, we have a few on the coast and I hear they are reaching more of Melbourne these days. Was listening to the WBBL from Drummoyne on my drive back from VIC a few weeks ago and heard one on the broadcast. Worlds worst parents.

When I went walking with a friend at beginning of Spring he remarked the birds were all very noisy, I wonder what the chatter is all about.

No it is my grey backed butcherbird friends. They come and see us every evening for drinks and nibbles on the patio. Becoming very vocal with time. And mum is a very good parent and dad has demonstrated his butchering skills. Dispatched a peaceful dove 2 days ago. He seemed very proud of his achievement.

I don't know why I did it but I BPay'ed to Latitude 28 Degrees earlier this week.

$1.95 fee for using BPay. FFS.

This on top of 30% interest and $8 a month account fee. This is out of control. You can see why something needs to be done urgently.

That's been there for years. It's why I gave it up for a while. The fee of $8 is of course new.

I tried to cancel when that was brought in, but of course the cancellation failed because a late charge came through., Was going to pay that then cancel, but suddenly received a waiver of the monthly fee for a year. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Probably not a co-incidence. They announced a year of rebates shortly after the fee was announced, prob in relation to the back-lash. Also brought in a 'rewards' scheme, which I don't really follow, but seems I'm getting $10/month.

Can pay the 28 deg Latitude card directly via CBA within the app with no fees. Although my NAB card also now has no overseas use charges, this card remains a keeper for me, at least until the rebates run out.; but I also expect they might being in some new encouragement to keep it at that stage.

The payments are slow though, if you use the app it’s free to do a direct debit but still slow. Pity they cannot come up with a payid type setup like Wise were it’s close to instant. And then there is their fraud detection system that blocks half of my legitimate transaction attempts, usually from the same merchant I do business with daily,,,,,,grrr

That's what I do. Horrid annoying wattle birds (repetitive, irritating calls) sit in a row of eucalypts outside my place. Every few years the eucalypts get a haircut and the birds move on. The haircut isn't for the birds, just limiting size of the trees - but if has a good side-effect.

We built a new home and specifically planned it so our master was at the rear, with huge stacker doors into the back yard. $80K to upgrade insulation everywhere and double glazed everything as we live on a busy road... when the doors are closed its silent but now its summer and we've been sleeping with the stacker doors opened for fresh breezes - which we knew about and thats why we planned the house the way we did, cool breezes from the rear every day.

No one warned me about the turf war between 4 different bird species that start just before dawn every day. Some mornings I feel like refereeing toddlers in a day care with all the screeching

They start about 4:30 out the front of our place in the council trees. Lots vegetation/shrubs etc but NO trees on our property.

I was joking about cutting down trees and bushes. I love the bird noise, even at 5am. You get used to it and sleep through. Case in point, in the late 70's I lived in a cottage on a farm in north east England. About 100m out behind the cottage was a railway and 2am every night the coal train would come through on it's way to Tyne Dock. The cottage would shake and rattle with the low frequency rumble of the coal wagons. First week or two I'd wake and then I got used to it. Then one not I woke at 2am. There was no noise, no rumbling and shaking. I pulled my woollies on and went outside to see workmen doing track maintenance and so that night there was no coal train.
You'll get used to the birds.

There used to be what I call Auckland Roosters that would go off at 2am here, which would be around dawn in NZ, have not heard them lately so I suspect they ended up in a pot
