There used to be what I call Auckland Roosters that would go off at 2am here, which would be around dawn in NZ, have not heard them lately so I suspect they ended up in a pot
Older people, especially men, who always think they know more than everyone else. There's a lot of road works on the road north of Adelaide to get to Port Broughton on Yorke Peninsula. We go on this road every week or two. Know it well. At one point there's a mobile red light sign. I was the first car stopped. I'd passed a car and caravan a way back but they then caught up with me. Old guy shuffles up to my car, knocks on the window then asks me how long I've been waiting. 5 minutes at this time. He says I need to pull up closer to the red light and that will trip it to green. I summon up my best 'my look' and tell him that isn't the way it works. Then the traffic director person saw him and told him to get back to his car and caravan as he'd left the engine on and with no driver and that was stupid. He slunk back. I just smiled. Karma was quick today.
These stupid waiting rooms for Black Friday websites. Chemist Warehouse, 60 mins wait to get access to a website. In 2024. Jetstar have done this in the past also.
Spent my money on Amazon instead, free delivery for tomorrow.
Love Die Hard. Watched it Christmas Day with our boys when mrsandye was working in ED a couple of years back
Mstr andye2 is still cross with me for teasing him about the dodgy sexual politics in Love Actually

I was joking about cutting down trees and bushes. I love the bird noise, even at 5am. You get used to it and sleep through. Case in point, in the late 70's I lived in a cottage on a farm in north east England. About 100m out behind the cottage was a railway and 2am every night the coal train would come through on it's way to Tyne Dock. The cottage would shake and rattle with the low frequency rumble of the coal wagons. First week or two I'd wake and then I got used to it. Then one not I woke at 2am. There was no noise, no rumbling and shaking. I pulled my woollies on and went outside to see workmen doing track maintenance and so that night there was no coal train.
You'll get used to the birds.
I know what it is like. In the early 70s we lived on Concord road at Concord West. Heavy traffic all noght but we slept well. Then moved to Maitlad in the Hunter valley. no noise at all and so couldn't sleep. fixed when we moved to East Maitland and not far down the road was the main north Railway line. coal trains all night. heaven.
Yes the birds wake me about 4am now. but in less than an hour back to a deep sleep often until 9am.

Did you ever notice the large number of Eastern Water Dragons around East Maitland station entrance!!! Buggers are all over the place, probably attracted by the little creek alongside the carpark.
I wish! The tree out the front is an awful big tree that spreads its roots under our pathways. Drops so many leaves, but council will not let us cut it down. It is not even a native.
We love the birds and grow lots of natives in the backyard for them.
But the whinging birds out the front that wake me every morning at 4am, do my head in!

Like the municipality where I live with Liquid Ambers planted down every damn street. These trees are weeds, WEEDS. Not native and have roots that can extend the width of 2 blocks of land, more than 120 feet, around 40m!!! I know I have pulled them out with a D9 Caterpillar and seen the terracotta drainage pipes fall off the roots like broken pieces of spaghetti. Yet this council refuses request to remove them.
I wi...ish. Huge machine!
When the driver lifted the bucket up 3m in the air the terracotta pipes fell off, amazing to see. Then he pulled the bucket sideways and dragged roots out from beneath neighbouring properties. It was like a scene from Caddy Shack with holes appearing in lawns all around.
Liquid Ambers should be declared a weed nationwide. I got them declared a weed on Sydney Northern Beaches where you can now remove them without approval.
Separate story. When we were dredging for the LNG facility for Woodside on the Burrup peninsula we had 2 D9s working the spoil field where all the dredge spoil was being deposited, 97% solid. We were throwing out toothpaste like consistency over 30m, depositing 12,000m3 in a 12hr period. Anyway one of our D9s sunk into the spoil. Took quite an effort to dig it out.
I have to say this is the first I've heard of any business charging a fee to accept BPAY payments. The big four banks all charge under $1 to the merchant to accept BPAY payments-more or less close to the 95c quoted above. You can take solace in the fact that you no doubt more than make up for the $1 profiteering through the 0 international fees benefit of that card.
