What cheeses me off

Nope that is why they make multi-focals (3 prescriptions in 1 pair of glasses) or why you have different pairs for different purposes.

A magnifying glass is after all just another lense; albeit far less practical as it ties up the use of one of your hands.

And of course if you are getting surgery on any cataracts they can also replace your lenses, but you still may need glasses for smaller fonts especially if the new lenses you chose was for distance or mid range as the artificial ones aren't as flexible as natural ones.

No such thing as legal size font, companies are permitted to use size 2 font on packaging, is it annoying sure, but if you need a magnifying glass to read it you need reading glasses.
Everyone needs a magnifiying glass to read font size 2. I'd like to see the evidence that it's permitted. It's usually the cheap imported stuff that uses it. There is no longer a correct reading glass for me. But I do need a magnifier for anything less than 4 font or poorly produced documents. The script for any reading glass would be 'no script'.

If you feel labelling is too small report the company to fair trading or TGA and complain to the manufacturer. It's a coughpy tactic they use to hide details hoping you won't read it.

As far as I know only foods and drugs have recommended font sizes and even then aside from headings (8 point) most text is in smaller (6 point) but i have seen as small as 2 point which i can read with the lower section of my glasses.

I have pain killers purchased in US that has all the pertinent instructions in 4 point and 2 point. They weren't cheap and are a major brand.

But whilst there are conventions like 12 point for legal documents, i don't think there is any regulation that deems a document invalid because it is in a smaller font than 12.

I assume you are referring to the main ESPN online comp? I am individually in that comp & it continued through to the end of the grand final. I received a email on the 7th Oct advising of results. Maybe you were leading at the end of the last round but not after the Grand Final?
This is a competition additional to the ESPN main competition. I led all the way through to the Grand Final but there's no record of me registered in that competition.

I must be imagining it all or I've woken up in a different simulation. Very strange.

WCMO is when your seat (that you chose 11 months ago) gets changed at boarding for non-operational reasons.

ETA call out to CSM who unprompted came up to me and acknowledged i was unfairly moved and gave me first choice of meals so I wouldn't get lumbered with what was left due to being moved further back. Just as well as one of the two options is completely inedible for me.

Very tempted to report the neighbour. Serial offender.

“If noise from building work can be heard from within the affected building during the following times, the person carrying out the building work may be issued with a fine. any time on Sunday or public holidays (normal Saturday restrictions apply for Saturday public holidays).”
What state are you in @TheRealTMA? LGAs in most states have restrictions for use of power tools, lawn mowers etc between 7-8am and 7-8pm. It's likely that your quote applies for building work that requires a permit of some sort, rather than to a neighbour using a power tool.

Here's a good little guide I saw on ABC news recently:

Brisbane.

Yeah as long as he's not doing outside of the "prescribed hours", or it's not just a hobby, you'll have put up with it.

My neighbour took up the drums during covid and sometimes plays until 9pm. It wouldn't be so bad if he did it inside but unfortunately he does it in an open carport, presumably because everyone in the house thinks it too loud.

My favourite word today

An ideologue is someone who has very strong beliefs or opinions and stubbornly sticks to them no matter what. An ideologue will insist they're right even when evidence suggests they might be wrong.

And are you an optometrist or opthomologist?

Cause I'm sitting with one right now who agrees wholeheartedly with my post. Old age doesn't defy physics, if a magnifying glass helps so will the correct pair of glasses.
Your ophthalmologist sounds like a fool Does he really diagnose people’s needs from anonymous posts on a frequent flyer forum?

Sheesh.

Yes. Thats why I mentioned commercial builders in my earlier post. They are banned on PH and Sundays in SA.

I love some of the words Susie Dent brings to light - some wonderfully weird and wacky ones there sometimes.
  • 17th-century ‘latibulate’: to hide oneself in a corner in an attempt to avoid reality.
  • catchf@rt' (17th century): one who slavishly follows behind their boss and who blows with the political wind.
  • A mumpsimus (16th century) is someone who refuses to budge/insists that they are right, despite clear evidence that they are wrong. Plural: mumpsimuses.
  • respair’ (16th century) - fresh hope; a recovery from despair.

She's wonderful isn't she. Have you read her novel that was released recently.

Banned is not quite the correct word. Whilst it's not common for domestic builds, they can work outside of the standard or prescribed hours if they need to, but they would have to obtain a permit to do so.

Go to use the car for the first time after seven weeks and know immediately it’s futile when the indicators give an insipid flash as you unlock the car… Needless to say it didn’t come close to turning over.

To rub salt in the wounds, some sort of alarm (that I didn’t know the car had!) starts going off… I’ve left the car unlocked now and will call NRMA in the morning…

I know I'm dreaming but why did I think that I'd be able to find Classic reward seats on QFF to BKK or even SIN from BNE/SYD for end Dec-25?

Classic Plus is 119,000 points each in economy which is totally silly and I'm not that desperate. Have just sworn not to go back to Thailand around Christmas/New Year but if I can find Classic award seats I'll change my mind.

The place is littered with once in a lifetime travellers that should not be allowed to leave their house in the village of the country of residence. 5-10-15-20 years Thailand was busy with regular tourists that knew how to behave around other tourists. Now it's these once in a lifetime tourists that have no idea what they are doing or how to behave outside their house.

Back to April and September trips but something tells me it's not going to be any different. Last June was very quiet and October just starts to pick up so September might be OK. April and Songkran will be busy but hopefully with regular tourists not ones that have no idea.

Are you serious?
Absolutely serious and their behaviour is close enough to ruin a holiday.

But hey who cares about my holiday experience as long as these ill-mannered individuals can wreak havoc as they please? It's only fair right?

Do you walk around the breakfast buffet holding a plate of food eating with your fingers while you're walking around? Grose does even begin to explain it.

Do you congregate in the lobby because you don't go anywhere and you're bored in your room?

Do you shout in the hotel corridors from one end of the hotel to the other at all times of the day/night? Not kidding.

Do you slam hotel doors at every opportunity?

Do you ignore queues in 7-Eleven or any shop for that matter? 3 queues and I'm in middle queue waiting my turn where this lady pushed to front of queue next to me to my right, asked a question, then came stood next to my ear conducting a conversation with her husband over to my left. FFS, fu.. off. (At least they can't speak English so I can have a nice rant)

Do you walk in groups and do not make way for anyone? I'm not walking into traffic to get around you.

There's more but hey who am I to demand a nice holiday experience. I should find a different place to holiday to avoid these clowns? Hopefully it's only Christmas/New Year that brings them out in droves. I'll have to find quieter periods but can only travel during school holidays which limits opportunities.

These are probably not the 'once in a lifetime' traveller but sound more like the entitled frequent bogan traveller.
And yes, I agree their behaviour is poor and not something I would like to encounter.

As stated by @love_the_life i agree these behaviours are extremely unpleasant. If that's all you'd stated then pretty sure all would agree.

But why you draw the conclusion that these are 'once in a lifetime naive travellers' encroaching on your territory is nonsensical. They happen everywhere around the world, at any times, on land sea and in the air. Sadly it isn't a affront to you personally but the fact of mixing with people who have different standards to you. And maybe there are aspects of your own (our own) behaviour that they find equally unpleasant.

@admin - when will you fix up the benefit paid for some 4 weeks ago hey? A PM and public post hasn't worked so far. TCMO.
