What cheeses me off

Australian journalists use no intelligence

My cynical view is that journalists and news media in general present what folks want to hear

At the shopping centre today I entered an outdoor carpark of just 12 parks. I eyeballed it on the way in and noted 2 free spaces. Up to the roundabout, spin around and return. There is an oriental gentleman walking into the space to "reserve it". I back in briskly and he leaps out of the way. "I thought you were going to run me over" Me: "I was". I explained there was still another free space just 8 cars along and his friend's car was already closer to it.

First is the romantic view of First Class travel, always accompanied by a FA carving up a roast from the trolley. Ignoring the cradle seats which probably aren't as good as today's business class seats for sleeping, let alone First Class Suites. Nor the cost of the seats relative to average salaries or especially median house price.
All depended on the legrest! If horizontal, it was ok. If angled… well…

But consider, no influencers or bloggers. And far more social than today.

Today's little #WCMO is rose coloured view of the past.

Noticed on Facebook this predisposition for people to complain about now compared to the past.
Interesting - there is good and not so good in all aspects of navigating life in different generations.

Do those who hanker for the past feel dissatisfaction in their current lives and engage in the magical thinking of what life was like then (allegedly)?

Equally there are those who rewrite the past in the present tense and rubbish the ‘ignorant views’ and mores of times gone by. In the UK I watched a documentary about the late Dick Emery and everytime after the ad break was a trigger warning about how the views expressed are not in any way endorsed by the BBC who was presenting the documentary. Boomer (as I am) is now a trademarked insult because uni was free and we were able to buy property.

WCMO:

I do feel the world is more polarised and I encounter more incivility than in the past in day to day interactions - but I don’t want to go back to living in the 70’s.

Personally I lived in inner city Melbourne from the 70’s until a few years ago. I left as I (I stress I) felt it had become congested, overcrowded and took too long to get anywhere; that lifestyle no longer interested me.

When credit card bills shift their interest free days to be reduced by ten days .
Husband and I kinda live pay to pay so to speak. So having to shift the credit card payment by ten days earlier is rather frustrating (all credit card usage is paid off monthly )
ANZ did this a couple of months ago. Was used to all
cards being paid on 1st month. Now ANZ is a lot the 27th 😡

Everyone man (person) and their dog is voting early with the result that there are horrendous queues. You can't tell me everyone in the line was eligible for an early vote. There was a half-hearted attempt with the AEC person pointing to a sheet of paper on the wall and asking, do you fit in this? The early voting place is close to work so I checked several times today and the queue was to the corner each time. In the end, nothing for it but to join. It did move reasonably quickly but took about 45 minutes.

The AEC person may only ask if you are eligible to vote early, they may not ask you what your reason is for voting early. MrsP and I voted today as I still need to avoid crowds.

No they didn't ask for an actual reason, just pointed and asked if I fitted that. Yes/No. If Woden was anything to go by, the crowds are greater at early voting than will be on Saturday where our local school is usually pretty quiet. Unfortunately I will be away and can't vote on Saturday.

I leased a factory warehouse to the AEC for the 2019 election. It's like what Kerry Packer said about Alan Bond, you only get one AEC in your lifetime. ;)

I wasn't going to vote early (no reason to) but as I drove past a polling place (regional town), there was a parking spot right outside, so I nabbed it - so didn't have to even walk past the pamphleteers! :)

No queue, straight in, person apparently asked if I was eligible to vote early. I actually thought she said 'are you eligible to vote', so I said yes ;).

Done. Dusted.

Jackie will be pleased! 😀 😸😸😹

A month, but yes, let’s see what happens.

Well, TA went in; still same planes as before - QSuites. All that happened is my seat choices made 8 months ago have been ejected and new seats not as good.

EDIT: To add: @SYD great J prices SIN-DOH-MAD for April next year (extremity of booking window). A$4K return for the classic - doesn't include seat, but QFF Plat sees to that (well, hopefully!! ...). Saudia is about $3,600.

My first thought was SQs angled J seats.... terrible seats, how did SQ get it so wrong with these??

WCMO - me! I somehow managed to choose an overnight flight SIN-MEL (aeroplan miles) on SQ.

Jackie will be pleased! 😀 😸😸😹

Fortunately she's not only not in my electorate but also not in my half of the state!
