What could airlines do to convince you to choose a middle seat?

Double status credits or a 50% discount would do it for me. I might be willing to take a middle seat for a smaller discount if the flight were under 90 minutes. Certainly not for a small chance of a prize.

I'm with you @significance. Only an actual guaranteed incentive might tempt me into the middle seat. I'm not willing to "go in a draw" because my chances of winning anything are pretty small, but the discomfort of the middle seat is assured!

Looks like VA have extended this from the original end date of Monday 24th April until July 9th. I don't think I've seen any AFFers report any success so far?

Configure the cabin 2-1-2 (or similar), then I'd choose the middle seat.
Have you seen the semi-recent-ish clickbait article about redesign of the aircraft interior, to have two cabins side-by-side and a half-step-up upper-deck nestled in between & above the two lower ones? Effectively three 2+2 cabins, with LCD-screen faux-windows for those seats against a wall that doesn’t face outwards. No middle seats!
