Used to play of 6 and 7 (and best I had was 5.4) but not these days.

Although in Thailand my handicap is 6-8 playing off the white markers which are generally 6,500 yards. I may try playing some courses from the blue markers which are 7,000 yards but one can almost forget trying to play off the black markers at 7,500+ yards. That is pure torture.

Have you tried Vietnam? From my last few trips the new courses they are building look brilliant.

But sounds like much better value for money! Costs the same for the game, and you get to have more swings - seems like better value to me.
Yes that may sound right but believe me when I say the more swings you have the less enjoyable golf becomes.

I am afraid for now my wings have/are being clipped.

I don't know. I enjoy being able to consistently score a century. I might even give the Don's average a run for its money.

And the only prize I ever won at a medical golf day was the Don Bradman prize.really given for honesty though!;)

Whilst my job avails me modest business travel, like others here, travelling for pleasure (then with wife, now with our family) really gives me pleasure. I got my love of travel from my parents, who would go to an offshore convention every 2 years (from 1978) and every intervening year would travel personally (with many of the same people from the Conferences).

I have a love for sport - particatly golf, football and cricket (having played all through school). Have some natural ability but never the time to practice.

BNE Roar fan, along with Aston Villa in the EPL and Celtic in the SFL.

Cricket tragic - my hobby is to go to the first 3 days of the First Test in BNE every year, with father, uncle and same group of clients - been doing it since late 80's. Our respective spouses are used to our Thursday night antics.

Besides flying, I spend most of my time planning for flying - it has expanded to take up a good proportion of my time.

Otherwise, apart from procrastinating, I don't do nuffink :)

codash...

Me too... but I tell folks it is MY version of Sudoku....

Due to the amount of travel over the last couple of years (120+ nights away from home each year) my leisure activities have been curtailed a bit.

I used to play a bit of golf and was also involved in the Adelaide Archery Club both shooting and as the assistant coordinator for the Junior archery program.

Now most of my spare time now is either working on the house & garden, running around after the family or socialising, and the occasional Sunday morning motorcycle ride to blow out the cobwebs!

Hobbies??

Where on earth do you folk find the time for hobbies??

Someone mentioned gardening. How could I forget. After 8 years in ground and and maybe 3 in pot. My avocado tree finally has fruit. It's usually the third thing I check, after kids and wife, when I get home.

My big thing is dining out.

I love going to restaurants all around the world. I am interested in all types of cuisine and I have been known to do stupid trips just to have a meal.

I regularly head to AKL for lunch.... But that"s easy. I have been to SIN overnight to eat at Waku Ghin. Headed to BKK for 12 hours to do a degustation menu featuring Michelin star chefs!

Earlier this year my son and I headed to Wales for a week, to eat at every Michelin Star restaurant in the country. We were in MEL in April when I received an Email from Rene @ Noma to say he was doing a Chefs Table in 2 days so we headed up and spent 58 hours travelling in total, for 1 day in Copenhagen!

We were also lucky enough to be staying at the Mandarin Oriental London, earlier this year when Heston Blumenthal opened his new restaurant "Dinner". We were invited to the opening night and it was amazing. Through that meeting I am looking forward to having Heston in Australia and New Zealand in the new year so I am able to attend some Master Classes!!

So that's my MAIN thing I do. Outside of that.... I have a passion for cars!! They don't have to be super exotic either!! I'm looking forward to my VW Scirocco, which I should get next week.

My final thing...... Thanks to IPad, is my rekindled love of reading!!! I used to read so much when I was younger, but now that I have Kindle on my IPad I download books all the time. I forgot just how much I loved reading and it's all coming back to me now.

I thought you were buying a Bentley? What happened to that? The VW is a bit down market isn't it?

Was, and still is a Ghost!!

The VW is a cool little car for not much $$$. Subtle as a run around.

+1 thinks the Ghost is a bit "old school".

We don't see eye to eye on cars!!

I'm looking for a Mini Moke or a VW beach buggy. Even rarer now than the <cough> Sirocco <cough> car?

Failing that, a Trabant would be nice!

Love to have a close look at the VW when you import it. Been my want for quite some time as we previously discussed.. Pity they are a PITA to import. Hope you bought the GTi version. I'll side with +1 here and you can keep the ostentatious Bentley ;)

It was purchased from a dealer!! They are arriving this month. It's a Scirroco R and there's just the one model being sold in Australia!!

Don't be afraid to trim those babies - they grow & grow & grow......treat em mean & they will treat you.

They are really big leaves!

Pretty big but really the avocados need to do heaps of growing yet. I'm still not sure they'll mature, hence checking them a lot.

I haven't trimed that one much and it is going great guns. I have 2 others that aren't going very well at all. But I did hack into the middle sized one, as i thought i was going to die, and it has really come back strong. All 3 were grown from seeds.
