What happened to the DJ Amex card?

Well the first two are offered by DJs, so there's some hope there.
As for the the fee free for life, who knows!

So DJ is going to partner with Latitude for the store-branded credit cards...lol, no wonder it has gone downhill, and with this kind of partnership it will only go downhill further!

On the face of it, this is a terrible partnership. A low end credit card company in partnership with a high end retailer. I can't imagine the well heeled residents of the up market suburbs across Australia happily pulling out a Latitude Branded Card in full sight at the register at David Jones.

I read this morning in the AFR that Latitude will acquire "David Jones' existing cards portfolio subject to further agreement." Why would anyone want to transfer their card from Amex to Latitude?

Mrs Pineapple got this non-informative email today

As a valued and loyal customer of David Jones and American Express, we are writing to let you know that the David Jones and American Express Cobrand Card partnership is coming to an end. Until such time you can continue to use your David Jones American Express Card to access all of the benefits and premium services you receive today.

Furthermore, all American Express Cards will continue to be warmly accepted at David Jones stores and online.

What’s next

For now there is no action you need to take.

I got the same email.

I suspect that once they get all of the approvals in place to transfer the card portfolio over to Latitude we will get another email saying "Your DJ Amex Card is transferring to Latitude next week with 'enhanced' benefits". The short timeframe in providing notice to prevent any leakage of cards being cancelled.

I'm quite confident that I'll be cancelling my card. It won't go to Latitude as I don't like them or trust them.

The DJs benefit I’m going to miss the most is the free alterations.
(DJs AmEx Plat)

Shirts, Jeans, full suits… altered for free.!
It’s been Brilliant over the years, especially when purchased during sale times.

That and the free delivery on any amount, even if the bulk of the purchase is paid with gift cards.

So it seems like its back on. Got the email this morning -
"David Jones American Express Card customers will be transitioned to a new David Jones credit card in July 2024. "

I am working out the best AMEX card to churn to as I would not touch Latitude with a 1000ft barge pole.

It was never really off. but there is more discussion in another thread about last weeks email

My sister currently has the DJ platinum Amex

Any recent experience in applying for a "normal" Amex and transferring balance across that someone can share?? Like many she's dubious of Latitude but also cautious of applying for a new product with a balance owing

Has anyone contacted Amex re transferring points and card to Platinum Edge to retain the points earning at supermarket and fuel outlets. I will do this today as I am curious to see if they offer me any points or reduced fee. I will be surprised if Amex will just let this business go to latitude without some sort of counter deal.

I got the same disturbing emails regarding Latitude and eventual demise of Amex DJ card products. Last night Mrs dissector got an email regarding ongoing issues with Latitude (these issues never went away, we are finding out about new Latitude problems every day).

Latitude can severely devalue DJ brand. However, let them live and learn...

I contacted Amex today, transferred to another card. Very easy process. Point transfer done. I did not ask for more points. I just wanted to transfer my card account with convenience to continue living my life without Latitude in it. I was assisted by a very nice human being on the other end of the phone line.

Do not allow your data to be leaked to (and eventually by), Latitude.

I contacted Amex today regarding my DJs card and was given all this to transfer to Platinum Edge:
First year free saving $195.
$200 Credit for travel etc.
Spend $3000 in first 3 months and receive 15000 reward points.
Outstanding annual fee on DJs card will be calculated and credited to my new PE card.
Current MR points on DJs card will be transferred to my new PE card.
Outstanding balance owing on DJs card will be transferred to new PE card.

For me this is a great deal as my wife has a primary card as well so we got the deal twice. I think David Jones and Latitude have made it so American Express can't say too much in their email to current cardholders unless they contact amex direct and ask to cancel the contact to Latitude.

I'm sure Latitude and DJs will come up with some good deals both in store and online later this year to entice people to join. I'm far more happy with amex.
