Interesting stuff. I really like the A380 - moreso than the 747. The 747 is iconic but the A380 form me is just awesome. I really think for me the four greatest passenger aircraft are the 747, the A380, Concorde and the DC10 - each iconic in their own way.

Every couple of years CBR has an open day. Whilst no A380's there, the last one had a couple of QF planes where the public was free to walk around and see things which people don't normally get to see. As for seeing the behind the scenes of an airport, I remember doing that as a kid, however a friend of ours worked for QF, so was able to arrange a behind the scenes tour for us (well technically our scout group)

Qantas has done events on social media, and for the more frequent flyers there are dinners in hangars occasionally, so there are opportunities to be up close and personal.
