The recent rumour of Qatar to join oneworld make me doing researchs. I found this article which is very interesting. Dated on 4th July before the EK announcement:

[h=1]Qatar Airways to form alliance with Qantas [/h]
Some quotes are very interesting:

“Qantas under Alan Joyce has taken a very positive attitude towards Qatar and Emirates and we hope that both our airlines will be able to work with Qantas closely going forward. We can only make ourselves stronger with this sort of partnership.”

So EK deal is signed. What about Qatar deal? Qatar was looking to codeshare with Qantas on melbourne and Perth route.

So far no news at all. I wonder if the 8th october New York announcement will bring this deal to surface?

Also:

The airline has also looked at extending its code share partnership with British Airways and Malaysian Airlines to give its customers more options into continental Europe via Asia.

So oneworld and Qatar would be together I guess? Let us wait and see 8th october what oneworld have to say about themselves.
