What is the best Europe Sim at the moment?

Earlier in the year I used GlobalGig for 25 days - paid the $70 for 5 Gig and used it in 8 countries.

However they have now changed it to minimum 3 month plans - which isn't as good.

However I kept the SIM activated on the Aust Flexi4G 1GB plan ($10/mth) for my 2nd SIM slot when I'm tight or TPG/Voda no service -- but recently used that SIM at 0.10/Mb for 5 days in LA. Turned off auto-sync and only used about 40Mb - mostly maps. Potentially an option if not using much data

Extra data rates for GlobalGig Flexi:

International Data - Additional Countries charged at $0.10 per MB
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America & Vatican City.

International Data - Additional Countries charged at $0.25 per MB
Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia & Turkey.

Still looking for better option than above: Need an update for late 2016 trip around Europe please....landing in Amsterdam--->Berlin--->Prague---->Vienna---> Dubrovnik--->Florence---->Rome--->Milan-->Lake Como...about 2 months worth!

We often start in the UK where we buy a sim from Three (UKP20 one month) which has free data roaming in Europe. Tre/3 in Europe probably have a similar deal. Have used Tre(3) in Italy with great success over the years.

Three anyone confirm pickup\purchase in Amsterdam?

Any better options?

Have multiple AirBNB bookings so get multiple Optus Sims for free to use.....

Still looking for options please as above...any recent input would be great!

I'm trying Truphone next month. They look pretty good on paper.
We have been using Truphone for quite a few years-only for the rare phone call and have have no problems with the service. Has been nice & easy moving between countries and we are not big users. We use a local sim for data if apartments don't provide free internet

Links or referrals and a few more details please on what you pay on Truphone.
Purchase in Australia or Netherlands?
Only to be used as emergency and airbnb contact

Sounds like how we use it. From memory when we got it we ordered online and got the sim onboard a Qantas flight-not sure any deal like that still exists. Need to remember to use it every 6 months or sim will "lapse" & they send you another free one. Link to web site is here International data, calls and texts | Truphone Australia

I looked at website on mobile and still cannot find cost?
I paid $29.99 in Australia and that gives you $15 credit. The SIM is mailed from the UK. I chose an Australian phone number but you can also get UK and US numbers.

call costs etc are on the website.

Looks like its $0.09c/Mb for most major countries in Europe and $0.25c/Mb for others, apart from some as listed below.
Very similar pricing to the GlobalGig Au SIM I mentioned in #41
- albeit the GlobalGig card has far more countries at the 10c rate (where Truphone is 25c) (and some eg Lichtenstein/Norway/Switzerland are 10c vs $2.25/Mb)

Also some overseas countries are $2.70/Mb (eg. Thailand and New Zealand)

As posted earlier our use is purely for phone calls (small in number & irregular). We have never used it for data. There are probably cheaper call options available too but for us the last 5yrs have been hassle free-just used during an annual overseas holiday. Send ourselves a text in between holidays to keep the sim current

I'm not saying its not a good plan.. Just my focus is more on data - hence the comparison.

I run a VOIP (SIP) client on my phone so calls are cheap wherever I am - and people can call me on my Australian local number rather than mobile.

Also got a dual sim phone so I can still get Aus SMS

Right...I used RB link and read the replies.
This is for family members that as stated is only to call AIRBNB places and have chauffeur(business class flights) pickup to go to airport.
They have Android smart phones that have apps on them......now these apps may suck data......
So they plan on calling home via viber and WIFI.
So will truphone result in excess data bill?
Do I have to list each of the 6 countries they are visiting to check Truphone will work?
2months travelling with "min prepaid sim will cost" how much after $30 Sim posted to them here?
You activate the Sim the day before you leave or is it activated on application\sending to you?

Edit: Seems to be 25cts\min out and receiving is 8cts\min? with Data 25 cents\mb with Truphone and county visits.

How do I compare this to a Boost add-on pack or Telechoice add-on pack please?

Used Simcorner for a recent trip to the US, we had no issues using data or making calls.

Anymore NEW Europe Sim card options...landing in Amsterdam September?
