What is your QFF points strategy post-grounding?

There's no reason they will be bought out. They have 3.5 billion in cash. They are the envy of the air transport world. This is costing 20mil a day, which is a lot, but they could sustain it for 6 months if they have to. No way it will go that long though.

Have a look at their shareprice - 5 years ago around $ 5.00, down to around $ 1.45 at the moment WITH A TRUCKLOAD OF CASH, a well known CEO & mates tried a few years ago to sell and strip the Company of its cash and load it with debt when the price was a lot higher.

It can't be bought by a foreign company or competing airline but what is to stop a cashed up AUSTRALIAN company taking a shot at it.

No dividends paid for 2 years etc... lots of shareholders would jump at the chance to bail out if a good offer was made. I would not be so sure it won't be sold or tried to be bought.:?::shock::(

Already have my QF Gold renewed for next year (my QF year ends 28 Feb, currently sitting on 640 SC's and no certainty of getting Plat). Think my QF Gold can be renewed each year on the back of 6 months flying (September to Feb), mainly using JASA's - re-building my points balance again. QF Lifetime status (moving from Silver to Gold) probably not as important now and certainly won't be getting AA Lifetime Gold for a very long while .

As I choose my own flights and airlines, I have decided to flick my flying over to VA between now and September next year, so see if I can re-qualify my status matched Gold (as my VA year is 30 August). Trying to get something confirmed by this afternoon (SYD and/or PER flight), but doubt I'll be able to - this would have helped to re-qual.

Then again, maybe VA will extend that offer (or give another one early in the New Year).

I am not doing anything differently since the grounding. If QF looks like it is faltering then I might do something. I have already started considering DJ but a lot depends on what trips I have planned over the next 12 months and how that profile changes. I have a potential India trip that might or might not come off. If that comes off then I will probably fly to Jeddah on Ethiad to help maintain status on DJ. But that is not a reaction to the grounding - I am just so bored of domestic flights on QF (and I dont do as many as others) so maintaining DJ platinum will alleviate the boredom - it will also be a real test of what travelling as top tier in DJ means for international travelers.

keeping mine although when the family upgrade didnt come through on our rtw trip i have a lot more than i expected!

New bells and whistles coffee machine for christmas may be the go!

Although if work ever get around to booking my syd-cmb trip in 2 weeks i'm suspecting there may be upgrade availability!

I've got 200k worth of points. I was planning to either use most (140k) on a OW RTW award, but then I thought about getting an F award seat just to try it out as well :-)

Either way, I'm not rushing to use them, I've already had award flights to Johannesburg, J upgrade to Frankfurt etc plenty of other upgrades, so if they went under, i'd be ok about it.

But of course the rumours are now about retaining the QFFer's as a priority, so looking forward to see what they offer us :-)

After Ansett most of my points are in Altitude. I have just used the few Q points I had, and will continue to keep the balance as low as possible.

Just cashed in all my FF points for Store vouchers, mainly Bunnings :)
Now have a couple of thousand $ to spend.

Haven't flown with Q for nearly 18 months.

Will refuse to until they change their attitude. (and get rid of the dead wood)
They've just relegated me to Gold now.

Don't care.

WILL NOT be flying with them if I don't have to.

Now VA Platinum (via points) almost twice over.

They will never see a willing $ from me again.

Love Qantas, but lost all points in the AN collapse - just used all my QFF points to book 2 return tix to LHR with stopovers in HK and Perth at Easter 2012 and even paid for the travel ins with points. Mr Cryan doesnt think we could be that stiff twice, however, I am taking no chances.

Well I think it may make redeeming points for flights a bit easier as there is anecdotal evidence that loads haven't recovered so if this holds true you can get better value out of your points when you book.
Points grow in value as you move up from economy to a nicer class and I think you can get your share at the moment so make your plans now.
