I just turned WP this week and had been in the SG wildness for the previous two years and WP two years before that.
One of the first things I did as WP was to look at my allocated seats to my MEL/LON (via HKG) return flights on the old 747s. I could suddenly access the mysterious Row 40/41 seats which were previously unavailable to me.
This was good but then I remembered another perk and quickly gave Qantas a call and asked them if I could change both my Classic Award flights (6 Aug 2011 to LON and 5 Sept to MEL) to the A380 planes. As luck would have it, I got both flights changed to an economy A380 flight and got row 50 (as the other usual favourites were taken).
Unfortunately I could not upgrade to Premium economy at the time but I will call back later to see.
This all cost me 3,500 points which was well worth the cost.
I also had a look at the sudden larger availability of seats on my usual domestic flights but my usual preference is to rock up to the airport and grab an exit row.
Anyone else with ideas on what to do when you turn WP?
Regards
Daniel
