So I have 7 days in Singapore in early November but am there fairly regularly so I've done most of the usual tourist track things. I'd usually fly elsewhere but when I booked the hotel I had thought the River Safari, Marine Life Park, Equarius Water Park and Gardens by the Bay would be open.

Only 1/4 seems to be open and I have doubts about the rest. So far I am planning a day for Gardens by the Bay, a day for Bukit Timah park and a day for Haw Par Villa.

Within the last year we've seen the Zoo and Night Safari, been to Mac Ritchie Reservoir, walked around some of the smaller parks like Fort Canning and the botanic gardens, spent a couple of days at Universal Studios and Sentosa, and shopped/walked around most of the CBD (including the Marina Bay Sands).

I'm not that interested in going to JB again and as I have already booked the accommodation I don't want to overnight anywhere else. Any ideas?

... there is the recycled water plant tour.... Singapore has lots of strange Surprises.

But it does seem like you've been around the traps.

Actually I'm usually there mainly to eat and relax so being too touristy doesn't come into it.

Great fine dining in Singapore. Lots in Marina Bay Sands. Tetsuyas first venture outside oz too.

Yeah, I like the dining but I can't spend the days doing it. Or I can, but probably shouldn't. Just wondering if there's any hidden gems or tours/activities I haven't thought about. I think the science centre was quite good but it was aimed more at children. Might check out east coast park too- I haven't been there in a while.

Head to KL / Penang / Langkawi/ Kota Kinabalu for 2-3 days :)

If you are interested in state-based military indoctrination techniques for children, you can't go past this S'pore Discovery Centre - Come experience the Singapore you never knew. Uncover the fact, fiction and everything in between through fun, interactive activities and games.

I did the flying fox on Sentosa last year. That was AWESOME!

I must admit, I find myself in a similar boat, albeit I'll be there four an 18 hour stopover in transit from DRW-MUC. Trying to work out how to balance the need for sleep after a redeye from DRW, and the need to entertain a very active three-year old and a 15 month old. Have been thinking a sleep at the T3 Ambassador, taxi to the Zoo, then head back via Orchard Road for a feed and a dash of shopping, before taking the MRT back, and visiting the Priority Pass lounge for a shower before heading off again.

The newest attraction is the Sky Garden, behind Marina Bay Sands, I was there a few weeks ago and it's amazing. MRT station near MBS now open as well, makes it easy to get to but of course as a regular to Singapore you know how great the taxis are! Just be sure to take bottles of water from your hotel, wear a cap and whack on the sunscreen. But it's an astonishing place, you can easily spend a half day there.

Thanks, already up there- Gardens by the Bay, I'm looking forward to it. Doesn't seem like there's much I've missed out but I don't mind sitting by a pool and relaxing for days. We have 2 nights at the new W Sentosa too, so if anyone has any Qs before or after let me know.

Cynicor,

Forgive me for being Cynical, but if you've been there a gazillion times before (as you told us), why do you need us to help you to decide what to do?

Why not try some real things like Changi Prison and Krangi War Cemetry and get some Australian history understanding.

Just my humble opinion.

Recommend Kranji war cemetary. A bit of a hike from the MRT down the road. Good views of JB at the top of the hill.

As per my previous post - that "hike" would be a bit like the hike our POW's took?

Not a shot at you Shane, you've clearly been there. (Or anyone else for that matter - just an historical point!)

To get ideas like yours, actually. It's never occurred to me to spend time in Changi, so thanks. I'll use one of the days for Changi stuff.

That said, I don't see how you can think any of the other stuff that's been mentioned is not 'real'. And I have a decent understanding of Australian history, but I think you might be a bit hung up on it.

Apologies if I've offended anyone - not intended. It is afterall Father's Day. Changi is a "special" visit. 'Nuff said.

Nice walk (several walks combined I think) I've done a couple of times, starting at Kent Ridge Park, proceeding through some jungle, some canopy walking, Hort Park, the odd minor road, a couple of interesting pedestrian bridges including Henderson Wave Bridge, past the Sentosa cable car station on Mt Faber, ending at Harbourfront MRT station. Around 6km and 2 to 3 hours depending how fast/slow, number of stops. Mostly (but not all) flat or downhill.

For something a little different, the Singapore Polo Club's bar and dining facilities are open to the public Mon-Fri, and they often have (weather permitting) polo matches from around 1700 on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and Sat/Sun, but no public admission on w/ends). Food and bev not too badly priced (IIRC) and it aint every day most of us sit down and watch a game of polo. Rain caused cancellation last time I was there but have seen a few games in the distant past.

I enjoyed Changi. Finding a taxi back to my hotel proved a bit of a challenge though.

Both sound wonderful tuapekastar. I was in transit in SIN last weekend from PNH to KUL. Took a free airport afternoon tour. The manicured rain-trees still impressed, but the concrete on concrete, really under-impressed. A nice walk and watching polo would both be lovely things to do - Thank you for sharing, PJ.

Take the MRT to Tanah Merah stations and take bus 2
Take the MRT to Tampines stations and take bus 29

While you are out that way try some of the Peranakan eateries along East Coast Rd
