Dang. I should have tried that. I booked my flights and transferred all the remaining points to Krisflyer just before cancelling the card a few weeks ago. Only a few months ago I was thinking of keeping it because of the lack of FX fees, but a CC without FX fees isn't much use to me if I'm not travelling OS any time soon.I hadn’t booked a flight.
It wasn’t likely to be of any use to me anyway so I used that as an excuse to be entitled to an annual fee refund.
The refund was duly processed in to my newly opened FF black card account and the traveller card is now closed.
I did also ask for lounge passes but doubt I will ever see them.
75000 V points, zero fee!...
I asked the travel consultant what will happen if interstate travel hasn't opened up by the end of the year when I'm due to fly. He said that VA would give me travel credit. At the time I believed the chances of me flying is slim to none due to state lockdowns, but I figured a booked flight was better than no flight at all. I'm totally prepared for the chance that I might lose the flight and the travel credit.
As a travel addict, just having the booking seems to have done wonders for my mental health, so it's not entirely worthless.
