What's the cheapest Qantas product I can buy (of any kind)?

The reason I ask is I have the Qantas American Express Ultimate Card, which comes with a free flight, but to use that flight I have to first buy a Qantas product (WTF!) - any kind and any price.

Buy a $50 voucher from QF.

Classic award ticket & pay taxes with credit card, might be cheaper than $50 QF Voucher.

It's a QF product bought from QF ABN, I did it about 4 years ago and worked for me. Need to read the small print to make sure it is still valid, I don't see how they could knock it back.

Does that actually count though?
I don't believe so. It's quite specific merchant accounts that enable the free flight. I once claimed an award and paid for a Carbon Offset, which did not activate it (offset the carbon after the ticket was issued, not at time of purchase).

Officially no, and spelled out in the Ts & Cs as such.

Selected Qantas products and services are Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number) purchased on the Qantas merchant account i.e. directly from Qantas and Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership joining and annual fees. Excludes Jetstar, Qantas Holidays and Qantas branded non-airfare products. Subject to the Qantas American Express Cards Points Terms and Conditions.

I can't comment on amex enforcing such, but that's how it reads.

I needed to do the same and after reading the T&C exclusions I figured that purchases from the Qantas Mall didn't count.
I ended up booking a flight CNS-BNE as my trip home from a big train trip I'm taking in May, and used Points + Pay, spent 10k in points and like $16 for remaining value of the taxes etc.
My online Amex statement updated the following day clearly showing the free flight had been triggered.

Now I just need to decide where to go to use it!!! :)
