Have hot towels returned? I still haven't had it on recent international flights.

I recently did a china eastern domestic j class flight and had two! One at boarding and one after the meal.

I flew international J a few days ago and there were no hot towels.

Never had it on QF to DPS.
Has this been a thing before @Pushka ?
Hot towels used to be a thing on any Int flights. They still are on several airlines. Just not Qantas it seems. We've only flown J to Bali of recent times so don't know if it was a thing on this flight

This year I have flown J between SYD and HND, ICN, SIN, YVR and had 0 hot towels. For further details, I only started flying QF post covid and have never received a hot towel on QF ever. SQ on the other hand even do (did?) in PE

Last time I remember having it on qf was pre covid. But I wasn't sure if iv slept through it or just been unlucky.

Iv even had a hot towel on sq in economy between Darwin and Singapore.

As OP mentioned, there used to be hot towels in domestic J... and glasses of water or strawberryapple juice... and Fin Review and other newspapers...

I can solidly confirm that there is no "hot towel" service when flying on intra-state Alliance mining charter services.
I do wonder who threw a cold towel on that idea? Was it the mining companies?

If your'e really in to hot towels, try Thai Airways. We (in J) had hot towels with our drink when first seated, prior to each meal, a hot towel on the food tray, and another once all had been cleared away. They also walked the aisles regularly offering them.

Apparently hot towels - cloth variety - are really bad for the environment, As is ‘really really’ bad!

However… some airlines are going to more flimsy, but I guess biodegradable?, options.

While I can dispense with a hot towel on boarding, or before and after a meal, it is really nice to have one first thing in the morning or when people wake up before landing.

(a cold towel when boarding from a remote stand in a tropical environment is nice though, too. Or a remote stand in the ME.)

Yes I don't see the point; if you needed to freshen up one would have had a shower in the lounge before boarding.
Shower in the lounge isn’t much help if you have a bus gate in a tropical or very hot airport like Oman.

And of course doesn’t help in the morning as a ‘wake up’. The hot, towel followed by cool air from the vents is very refreshing.

Not somewhere I would ever visit, but I where I have had bus transfers the busses have been waiting and air-conditioned so not an issue.

Personally I prefer to wash my face properly with running water. I dont use a face washer at home and find a hot towel to be similar, not kind on the skin at all.
