So who can get the most SC on the least money?
I would be interested to hear of the best value ASA when it comes to SC's! No money required.
Or if you can pick up something like the $55 qantas link fares only $220 extra. You need 4 qantas segments in there too if those sc are going towards status... If you factor that in then the price can rise considerably!
Depending on ability to actually find the flights, based on comments here of people paying as low as $2.20 per SC. Then something like $3000. But you gotta find the flights, that would be a little bit hard I guess.
Well that's certainly a decent and fair price estimate. Thanks. I might suggest some reduction on the sightseeing front, as it could be assumed that someone looking for the cheapest 1400SC regardless of route, might be doing the trip more for the SC than for the sightseeing, and hence might minimise transit times and hence sightseeing as much as possible. It ends up being a bit more than $3000. Those crazy cheap fares with high SCs tend to either be in the USA on AA or in Asia on CX - my personal best effort (and this was a fare on AA that won't price out any more) was AUD 1.81 per SC. Multiply that by 1200 and add about $1000 in QF fares to get me there and back (another fare that I'm not sure I'll be able to get again); so far we're at $3172.
Now start adding accommodation and living expenses (I'm not talking about staying at Ws or fine dining every night, but I can't bring myself to stay at Days Inns or eat the cheapest dodgiest take away I can find -- and Denny's most definitely doesn't count as food :shock, sightseeing, incidentals ... you're not really going to get much change from $5000 if any at all. And that's on an AA Y/UPP fare that won't price any more.
In QF eyes, they really want people to be spending around 10k p/a to get WP, just a guess.
There are some very good ASA that work well, especially during the double SC promo.
1480 SC for approx 180,000 points.
Qf ideally want you to not be in the frequent flyer program
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
.... and that is pretty good.Got 180- SC's for US $379 ORD/SLC via DFW. Thats the cheapest i've got.
If you wanted to do it as purely a Status run then it is possible to get 1200 SCs for ~AUD3,000 including accommodation and using some points/miles to get to starting point. In fact in SE Asia I could it for significantly less.It ends up being a bit more than $3000. How often do you think QF will release double SCs promotions and more importantly how long do you think the NAN loophole is going to last? With the QF SC Promo, doing a NAN J Run twice, QF WP can be achieved for around $2500 (add on to that, another $300-$500 for taxis, hotel, repositioning if need be), so, yes, with the Double SC Promo, QF WP can be attained for under $3000, from zero SC starting base.
