Whats the most amount of flights you took to reach your destination

Thank you so much to one and all regarding your posts in this thread. It’s been an eye opener. And I now understand a little bit more about the FF puzzle. Just as an aside what have been some of your more extreme trips where you have stitched together flights in getting from A to B.
by choice I have an upcoming reservation with a five day stop in Bali. Routing will be SYD-DPS, stop, DPS-SIN (4 hours), SIN-Abu dhabi-London. So it has two more stops than flying direct, but I get a holiday in Bali, and the SIN stop will allow me to do some shopping, have a shower and eat before going straight to sleep on the flight to AUH :)

The above didn’t show online as a single itinerary and was pieced together using Australia to Bali + Asia to London, (which happened to be best from SIN, although Bangkok was also an option) then filling in the DPS-SIN.

A long time ago and using a different program (British Midland), a couple of routes stick in the memory:

Istanbul-Tashkent-Seoul-Bangkok-Melbourne

Edinburgh-London-Istanbul-Beirut-Cairo-Johannesburg-Cape Town

Sydney-Seoul-Hong Kong-Singapore-Frankfurt-Edinburgh

last night I asked the Forum for examples of how FF stitched together their flights when going from A to B. And there were some really brilliant examples of how members have managed to fly business or first class to their destination. But somehow those posts (at least from my end) have vanished from this thread. I particularly wanted to keep in mind the post that talked about using hubs. The examples given were extremely useful and I am grateful for the advice provided. So to further my education perhaps members might repost their post (late last night to this morning). Perhaps there are other examples you might like to share. This has really been an example of FF 101.

The amount of time taken to fly from A to B and the stress and pressures of international travel - can you really justify this in order to fly a premium cabin with little outlay. As a newbie with no international flights under my belt, I somehow feel that a direct flight even in economy (if available) might be a better option.
 
back in 2018 I had to get from London to Orlando. I did LHR>CDGx>HEL>ORD>DFW>MCO all Hand luggage only. The Transfer at ORD (by bus!) and delay into DFW were the only issue.

That’s the thing… there’s really very little stress and pressure when flying premium cabins. Economy? Forget it. But with business or first you are expedited through check in, passport control, security, straight into the lounge for a glass of champagne, straight on board… no stress about where you need to store your hand luggage… first off and bags usually waiting by the time you get to the carousel.

With multiple flights you approach each one refreshed after a good sleep on the previous flight and a shower in the lounge.

You can’t compare economy and premium in terms of stress. And in most cases extra flying time is taken up by sleeping anyway!

The benefit of arriving in London well rested and ‘ready to go’ - compared to 25 hours direct in economy and having to wait another 6 hours before your hotel lets you check in - is priceless.

For me its more a function of time. I mean you could fly economy, and then spend an extra day at a very nice hotel and still be well ahead in terms of $$$ saved doing this compared to paying for a premium seat on a flight. However, I also try to minimise the time away from home, so that's an extra day away, and likely to be an extra day or not earning an income (although remote work makes this less of an issue)
 
SYD-ICN-IST-ZRH-LCY (Star Alliance J redemption) (OZ, TK, LX)

Was supposed to be a 34 hour trip turned into a 44 hour trip thanks to snow in London which meant my ZRH-LCY flight was cancelled and then numerous delays in London/Zurich. Finally got put onto a LHR flight but my bags came 2 days later.
 
In an earlier post someone provided incredibly useful information about which hubs assist in stitching a trip together. Somehow this post is now missing. Can you elaborate which hubs you use and why. Sorry to repeat this post . But really keen to understand the logic behind your trip planning as you negotiate from point A to B.

Next July/Aug I've booked BNE-SYD-MNL return. Qantas Classic Reward J 136,800 points + $475.
(1 night in MNL on way back)

Then MNL-AUH-GVA return. Etihad J paid in US$.
(2 night free stopover on way over, with chauffeur transfers)

Finally GVA-LHR return BA Y paid.
(2 weeks in UK, plus 3 nights in GVA on way back).

Total was AUD $3100 + 136,800 QFF points. 3 separate bookings and 10 segments

Earlier this year my partner and I needed to get to a wedding in Northern England. Had a huge cache of QFF points but as most know it wasn't the easiest to find flights at that time.
Initially booked Syd-Sin-Hel-LHR, however in Qantas' infinite wisdom they cancelled the Syd-Sin flight and pushed us back a day. Not the end of the world but trip was planned to spend abit of time in Singapore so ended up spending about 8 hours on the phone to Qantas and trip ended up Syd-Bne-Sin-Hel-LHR... The an avanti from London to Manchester which was an... Experience? to say the least.
 
Is this just awards?

It took me 13 flights from Australia to get to BKK but that also included a transit in BKK.

You do some silly things when you're bored.

How do you transit in BKK to get to BKK? That isn't actually a route so much as a succession of flights on the same ticket.
