What's the service on QF trans-tasman in J?

QF's TT J has dropped a bit in recent times. A small cabin though and if you get good staff the flight is enjoyable. The food is OK. Wines are usually NZ Sav for the white option. The champagne is no longer served I've noticed in my last few trips.

EK: I haven't flown with them for a while. Typical EK though.... OTT in my opinion.

LAN: Excellent seats. Food is average. That doesn't worry me though. Price is usually very good. The early from AKL-SYd means I can fly Monday morning. They are delayed a bit but you can check when they leave Santiago and if delayed they will put you on QF. I've even had a flight so delayed one day that they chartered an NZ 767 with NZ staff. I check in late to all flights due to carry on - so I got downgraded to Y (exit row) and a voucher (which ended up expiring before I used it).

In short; it's a 3hr flight. What more do you want? I'm sure most in the cabin are usually staff, staff friends or points UG. It's not worth $1000+ EW

While I do enjoy a good Australian sparkling, if it's been downgraded to something undrinkable then some feedback will be required.

Heck, even QF81 SYD-ADL has Billecart-Salmon.

Just on the way back from our week in Queenstown. Did mel-AKL and AKL-SYD in J. Very similar to previous trips - food pleasant and 3 courses - had a nice smoked trout as entree on the way over and a soup coming back. choice of 3 mains and cheese plate or ice cream for dessert. Only sparkling wine and then pleasant but unexciting whites and reds and a dessert wine as well. Had a couple of glasses of French bubbly in lounge so didn't bother with sparkling. The champagne in the AKL F lounge was Lanson and not all that good. Two things had changed - service was professional and charming - really liked both lots, but the guy on the Mel-Akl was particularly good - put so much effort in. Other thing that had improved was personal screens and AVOD. So all in all a pleasant experience and better than domestic J but not hugely. Being able to access F lounge in Mel due to newish WP status was nice.

That was what I remember most about flying J on JetConnect, the F/A asked me which I would like for dessert and I thought for a few seconds, before she said "why don't you have both?"

Who am I to argue with that?

We flew J Auckland - Brisbane then on to Canberra last month; not overly impressed with the trip at all. The plane was a new 737 so had IFE etc and staff were generally good. On the downside we were row 2 (A & C) They ran out of the meat dish (which left fish which is usually pretty ordinary or a couscous/chicken salad). As husband did not like either of the choices, he asked what was in Y - dumpling and noodle something, so he just had the cheese; not happy. added to that our bags were almost the last off, there was only one person on the transfer desk, the conveyor had been broken about a week so we had to lug our luggage on the bus (bunfight) across to domestic. Last time I will come in through Brisbane! At least on the CBR flight the food was OK even though it was an older 737. Have done the trip on Emirates and although we did not think the FAs were great, the product was IMO better and we had a car at each end.

I have generally had good experiences with the jet connect crew out of and into AKL from BNE. So as I am flying tomorrow , I will post my experience. Keen to see if we get real French instead of domestic bubbles.

We did BNE-AKL return last september. We found the staff to be very accommodating in allowing my vegetarian partner to mix and match her meal from the menu. Can't recall what champagne was on offer, but all alcohol was consistently offered without request. We were also given both dessert options each. So overall we found the staff to be excellent.

We've found the Jetconnect crew to be fantastic & more than happy to have a chat & laugh.

I prefer the 767 J hard product over the new 737.....I find the seats small, uncomfortable & not worth the coin.

Well it was a nice flight, great FA's BUT only domestic bubbles.
Not a good look on such a short hop in J

Will have to take advantage of the lounge in AKL on the way back.

That's what we did - a couple of glasses of Lanson and then just had water to start with on the plane. Did have a pleasant Marlborough white with my prawn salad on board.

Flew QF 131 Mel-AKL yesterday and the crew were great...Offered lunch ( at dinner time cause plane went tech and a new plane was "found" !! ) and had two choices...Peppered steak pie and Sicilian chicken...Had the latter and was very tasty...Finished off with great icecream and a class of Noble riesling...Lindt chocloates also offered by miserly sized offerings!!...All in all slightly above the domestic offering.

We came back a couple of weeks ago AKL - SYD QF44 and though I wasn't too impressed with the meal and beverages offered thought the all Kiwi crew were absolutely fantastic. Probably wouldn't fly J on this route again though, as a cash paying flyer couldn't really justify the cost for what is being offered and it is a very short flight

agreed...the J service is no where near the long haul product and I wouldnt pay for J but as it was the final leg of a DONE4 I wasnt too fussed

Totally agree, the business saver fare is the only price point for that product that I'm prepared to pay, not a cent more.
