I'm pleased to report that the Club IC Bali has the biggest cakes of soap I've ever seen. Much larger than those you buy. And a
machine in our room that I've not yet used in 7 days. Sorry Skyring. :D
LOL! I can see why you haven't used it - all those dials and buttons. I'd be wanting a training course!

That's why I'm sold on Nespresso. You just load up the pod, press the gobutton, and you have a coffee with crema and taste. It's not just me, neither. My wife, the kids, they all have several pods a day.

Speaking of George Clooney, I'm beginning to feel like Ryan Bingham. Whenever I walk into the Nespresso boutique they greet me with this exact statement, "Pleasure to see you again, Mr. Skyring."

I have my very own matt black Nespresso card, for the love of George.

I love having a Nespresso in the room. The Conrad Hong Kong and TheTrafalgar both have them in the rooms. Totally idiot proof :D

The inbound transfer at Vinpearl Resort (Nha Trang, Vietnam) a few years back involved a Mercedes ride followed by a speedboat ride across to the island where the resort is located. Felt very James Bond.

I've stayed there! No James Bond for us. This was five years ago.

We hated it. The service was appalling. We had to go into the kitchens on occasion to get service at the restaurants. One Aussie lady was in tears at checkout because they said she had stolen a teaspoon. She said they never had two teaspoons and she and her partner had to share the solitary spoon for stirring. They were a gay couple and wondered if that was the issue. Yet it was my birthday and they gave me a cake, and this empty plate plus large dirty cake knife sat on our balcony for days.

It is owned by Russians and marketed heavily there.

The place was screaming full of kids and breakfast a nightmare. Plus nasty tourists who handled the food at the buffet then decided they didn't like it so would put it back. I'm talking grabbing items with their dirty hands.

For me it is access to room upgrades, and access to the Executive Lounge, especially in Asia. Like others I have found executive lounge access (where it exists), underwhelming.
Being a HH Diamond these benefits and late check out options are great extras .
My favourite is the Conrad Hong Kong, where a room overlooking the harbour and the executive lounge are what makes the stay exceptional. The lounge is great with great staff, excellent breakfast and evening drinks and canapés.
Being open all day is a great help, when you need to get away from the crowds

Conrad Singapore lounge vs Conrad Bangkok lounge is a tough one. Both outstanding lounges with impressive breakfast/high tea/canape selections. I've been the Singapore one more and the reason it wins out is an outstanding view looking out on to Marina Bay on one side and the rest of the city on the other, as well as very attentive service. Champagne is also more accessible - although Conrad Bangkok makes some quite impressive coughtails...

all in all a very significant perk and a number of people I've spoken to go to the Conrad Singapore purely on the basis of that. Surely a big win for the hotel!

Complimentary high-class hooke. sorry, wrong forum. :o

Love a good exec lounge. Conrad in SIN is my fave (though I haven't been in all that many), if you wished to, you could sit in there and drink free alcohol from 0600 till 2300, and eat quite a bit of the time as well. I would not, however, recommend trying this.
At a reunion in SIN last year a bunch of us stayed at Royal Plaza on Scott's and we got together in the EL every evening for drinks prior to going out. Great fun and plenty of SIN slings down the hatch.

I said Japanese toilet seats previously (should be in every hotel) if you're on holidays with just yourself and your other half for a bit of alone time away from the kids, you can't beat the private infinity pool on the side of a near cliff overlooking a jungle valley, like this one at Ubud Hanging Gardens. That's our dinner boat for the night (extra fee). Looking out over the valley in the morning seeing nothing but the pool before the other side of the valley in front of you in the morning is really grand.
Mrs Here2go and I are seeking suggestions of places that are similar in Bali or Cairns (or put another way, dirty weekend distance from Darwin). We are tempted just to go back to Ubud Hanging Gardens.

I know OT, but indeed - Orient Express have done a really good job. No touts, tips, etc (but the service charges are big), and when you see the place, you can understand why the prices are on par with Australia. Only bad part of the trip was connection provided via our travel agent. The tour guide who accompanied the driver did a good sell, but then took us to some really trashy places that sold art that belonged in Loot, but gave him obviously big commissions. When he learned that we had booked a bicycle ride through the hotel, and not through him, he spent the rest of the trip trying to unbook our ride, and go through him (cheaper for the same product) and that was the only real frustration. We'll book ourselves sans agent next time, and just get a taxi at DPS next time for the 90 minute drive up.

Thanks for the review.. Did you happen to do a TR on this experience?

I couldn't agree more.
I have stayed at all three, but as I go to HKG more often, then the Conrad at HKG is closer to my heart.

By the way the executive lounge in the HKG Conrad is being refurbished, and re opens next month.

I will be there in November and look forward to seeing what has been done

I have to say (though I dont know if it falls under "Amenity") that a good concierge is the best part of a hotel for me, especially if i'm in a strange new land.

Club lounge is wonderful but give me a beautiful full length, crisp white bath robe, not too heavy, medium weight and I am happy. A refreshing shower after a big day out nothing better, who wants to get dressed again? Simple
