I would only fly CX PEY if, and only if, I am on the bulkhead row.

IMO there is a fault in their design whereas they allow too much recline - so much you cannot see your screen properly, if the pax in front fully recline - which they all do, 0.5 seconds after takeoff.

Because your tray is in on your seat you cannot ask them to straight up until landing.

I prefer the China airlines PEY whereas the shell design means no one can intrude into your space.

Good to hear.

My folks ended up booking CX PE and have bulkhead seats for the 2 long sectors HKG-ORD and ORD-HKG, thank goodness!

Flew PE MEL-HKG-LGW & HKG-MEL in Apr/May, got upgraded to J LGW-HKG as a QF Bronze with about 6000 Woolworths points to my name (see business class menu thread)

Flights Melbourne to Hong Kong & Hong Kong to Gatwick were packed, the flight back from Hong Kong to Melbourne was empty, had 4 seats to myself on this leg.

Anyway here are the menu's if anyone is interested.

A nice little conclusion to this thread...

Mum and dad had a good trip PER - HKG - ORD in PE. They had bulkhead seats, attentive service, and after decades of flying economy, were amazed at how they received things such as a pre-departure beverage. LOL

So today they rocked up to ORD for the long flight home and were both immediately upgraded to J class upon check-in.

The plane was completely full in Y and hardly anyone in PE and J, so apparently they needed to distribute some weight into the J class cabin.

My understanding is this happens pretty rarely these days, so I'm thrilled for them.

And my parents were overjoyed at not having to be in Y for 16 hours to HKG. This will be the first time they have ever travelled long haul in J.

They are currently in the air but I'm excited to hear what their experience was once they land. A nice ending to their initial reluctance to want to book PE!
