I like to read travel-related books when I'm preparing for a trip or at the airport/on flights to hype myself up for the trip or to think about things I'd like to look out for.
Thrilling Cities by Ian Fleming is my favourite. He has the same observant and dryly humorous style as in the Bond books, and he describes in detail flying back when it was a luxury activity accessible only to a select few.
