What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I though I would ask this here as its related... Im looking at refinancing my home loan. Been offered 4.25% Variable, 4.29% fixed 3 years. Now from my looking around I don't think rates are going to fall much, but i also dont really see them going up in the short term either.
What are other peoples thoughts and advice?

Similar idea to you. I'd be inclined to fix it over a 3 year horizon. Variable if it was 1 year. I'd say we might see one or at most 2 more cuts before we start heading back the other way some time next year. Across the 3 years, I'm inclined to lean towards slightly higher average than the current level. But we're all just guessing really. How does your intuition normally fare with these things?

Lets just say last time i fixed i shouldn't have...

I agree with you here, I don't think we will have anymore than 2 drops, probably just one. Then flatline for a bit before raising slowly around the 1.5-2'ish years i think. I was thinking about split 50/50

Even if the RBA drops their headline rate I doubt you will see the full cut in mortgage rates from the banks.Although large their profits have started to become flat which means less chance of them cutting their rates and fees except on deposits.

with which bank?

I assume there are some significant fees with this offer.

Newcastle permanent. No fees with the fixed I think.... Variable is part of a package 400 p.a. I have 4 loan accounts and 2 offsets in the package which gives me lots of flexibility. They have been really good for the last 5 years. They had 3.79 fixed late last year....

Now that the $AUD is not going right back up I have joined and started using topcashback rebate sites in the UK and the US.
Rebates lower the cost of buying at retail so every bit helps.

They pay into an Australian bank account?

And how do you get around this problem that I noticed for many of the retailers that use topcashback?

"Traffic originating from outside the US will not be eligible for cashback"

I am using a U.S. and UK bank account to receive the rebate money from topcashback so it may not suit many. When we transfer funds ex Australia we get it to go to HSBC in London or US Bank in Marina del Rey California.
I avoid having 4 or 5 per cent of the funds I need getting stolen by banks transferring money so no travel cards for us.

I'm about to do 3/4 at 3.99 fixed and the rest at 4.29 variable.

Ubank doing 4.09 variable with no fees. Anyone with Ubank and have good/bad experience?

What are the comparison rates?

Ubank is same comparison rate as that is their standard variable rate. I don't really pay attention to comparison rate as I'd switch before any package/deal reverted to a 'normal' rate. If my current lender doesn't come to the party with the renegotiation I'm currently doing I'll switch to Ubank.
