What's your Uber experience?

I go to the footy in Melbourne most weeks (in footy season obviously).
Me and my mates usually have few beers so it means an Uber ride from the train station at the end of the night.
I've been taking cabs this season.
Uber is now $35 for the 18km trip whereas a cab is is $45.
There is a cab waiting at the station from the moment I get off the train and it often takes 20 minutes for an Uber to arrive when I order it even if I order five minutes before the train gets in.
and then there is the possibilty of a surge with Uber whereas a cab, I know exactly what I am going to get.

Me and Uber are still not good friends. I have always said they woefully lack localisation (which is why a Grab drove them out of town in SE Asia and didi did in China). At DEL the other night it showed rhe car as arrived even though the car was on the road immediately outside the car park where the pick up area and after 15 mins of very slow moving (around the corner and towards pick up) the driver cancelled on me and I got charged a fee for not being at pick up point, which I was the whole time!!

Other Uber’s on the trip were Ok once I realised when they said 5 mins to arrival they really meant 2.5x that (12 mins) - at least it was consistently 2.5 times each time I booked.

I've just done an Uber trip but the app appears not to show the trip being completed, I can even cancel the trip.
I would actually like the driver to be paid for the trip (only AUD$4 here in Durban) but there seems no way to contact Uber or the driver.

I caught a $9 trip last night. Pleasant & chatty chap who was easy to get along with, he knew where to drop me off despite The System’s directions, and I never felt in danger.
Lots of thumbs-up for that experience.

My trip finally showed on the app as completed. Judging by the map, it appears as though the driver didn't end the trip until he got half way back to where he picked us up. The trip probably ended up costing about AUD $3 more than it should have. Was it some sort of mistake by the driver? Should I report it?
It could be more hassle than it's worth for 3 bucks.

Guessing he rebooted/lost power on his phone for some reason.

Up to you whether you report it. If support there is like here, they'll rectify the situation pretty readily i.e. it shouldn't be a lot of hassle for you. Though you have to make the request through the app, with an explanation of what happened.

Heading to MEL right now - first DiDi Quote:

Uber pricing itself out of existence - I see another post in another thread stating ‘Taxies charge too much’ or something similar. For this route Jimmy will provide Silver Service taxi for set rate $115 no CC fee - I go with DiDi to save money - Uber on a slippery slope.

I was charged $10 when my driver could not locate me in Southbank, Melbourne despite 4 phone calls. I gave up and took a taxi.
I have no idea where he went but I think he was about 2 miles away and profoundly lost despite me saying Southbank Boulevard.

We use a limo service to go to the airport when we are in Melbourne. Quicksilver subcontract it out and we book it with the Perth office.

6 points for every $1 spent on Uber Comfort or Uber XL to/from eligible airports this month is not a bad little earner.

I’ll pm you Jimmy’s contact deets - Limo service at taxi rates - plenty here will vouch for him

Haven’t had any issues up until yesterday. Driver from ADL to can't be bothered was on FaceTime for 95% of the ride (I couldn’t care less about the lack of chit chat but this wasn’t on).
Provided feedback and had a response with promise of refund within 12 hours.
