Am interested in this... Have an upcoming qf11 in F booked as an AA flight number (Revenue flight). QF website shows me on this with a confirms status (A bucket)... Should I expect a call from the F hosts?

If you don't, it'd be worth calling the lounge by the early afternoon.

Why did you book the AA codeshare? Price difference maybe?

I'm just a NB but called today by the First Host at about 9:00am for my QF7 flight leaving tomorrow at 1:00pm. It was a points upgrade

Text message earlier followed by the call made for a good day especially as I wasn't expecting anything outside the 24 hour window

Work only lets me fly business... Was looking at various pricing Syd-bos rtn and found a F class ticket cheaper than J... Syd-lax on QF11, LAX-DCA-BOS on AA, BOS to DFW on AA, the. DFW-SYD on QF8. All up 10k for 870 SCs and 50k FF (plus 16000 loyalty bonus) on day 18 of my new QFF year. Score!

DocJames, its worth it to do the QFi SYD F lounge at least once.

Have done SYD once and MEL a few times.

MEL was all flying F, SYD was on a complimentary (service recovery) pass.

No calls prior to MEL (and obviously none for SYD given they wouldnt have known i was coming!)

In the case of QF metal, OA (eg: EK or AA) codeshare flight number, I would think one SHOULD get a call as you're a QF F passenger on their manifest with a booking in their cabin. I don't see why you wouldn't get a F host call, spa booking and all the rest for a QF metal flight.

the OA booking would include contact details in the QF PNR so they'd know how to find you.

mine was an AA reward to LHR

I've not done it - and as it is just the two of you it isn't really necessary - but I gather you can also reserve a table in the dining area. It will be busy so may be worthwhile. And if you book for immediately after your spa you'll have certainty of time. Grab a window seat if you do.

I may be wrong - but no harm in asking if you would like the certainty.

Enjoy the trip!

I posted somewhere .. I thought it was here ... that I got a call at t-23hrs for a QF11 (SYD-LAX) flight (points upgrade), it went to voice mail; mentioned spa, kerb meeting etc but not table reservation. I called back and asked for a table reservation for breakfast at a particular time and it was taken, no probs.

When I arrived, the restaurant server said they don't take reservations; this was confirmed by the First Host lady behind the front counter when I asked.

Now, a couple of us have seen 'reservation' signs, but it might be for larger groups?

Other people may be able to report making reservations, but on the couple of occasions I have flown F out of MEL, there was no such opportunity when the QF representative called, and TBH I can only recall that call happening on the first of those occasions, but maybe it is just my memory at fault - and the person who called me the day before was the same person who checked me in. So 'First Host cough First Check in Agent' I guess. The reserved sign is often used as a tool for staff to have some control over where people sit (as opposed to the table(s) really being reserved) so your 'larger groups' theory is a sound one IMHO.
