Hi all,

When does the Loyalty Bonus become available to select after the requisite 500 Status Credits have posted? I seem to recall in the past that when the qualifying flight has posted, you were automatically prompted to select your Bonus after logging into your account online. I am not getting this prompt and there is no way to select this either on the Status activity page.

The loyal bonus appears in the My Account section of the Qantas desktop website after you sign in. It's a small yellow banner just under the frequent flyer navigation portion of the site:

A couple things to keep in mind:
  • The loyalty bonus will arrive in your account several days after the qualifying flight (and status credits) post to your account
  • You only receive a loyalty bonus when you accumulate 500 status credits flying with Qantas or JetStar. So anything you earned from American or another airline won't count for that loyalty bonus
  • Loyalty Bonus Rewards must be selected within 90 days of it appearing in your account.
  • You should time your loyalty bonuses to coincide with your program years. For instance, if you aren't aiming to reach higher status this year and provided your status will roll over to next program year it might make sense to hold off and select your loyalty bonus in the new program year. This is precisely what I'm doing (hence why I haven't selected my loyalty bonus yet).
Hope that helps!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I qualified for my first on Sunday, and mine came in about 48 hrs later. When I logged into my account there was a cream banner across the screen advising me. I have just under 4 months nominate which choice I want.

Thank you all.
Did it eventually show up? How long after?

I ticked over the loyalty bonus this morning, SC credited but like your original post no where can I select to use it. I'm impatient as this will be the SC that takes me over to platinum.

Like a day or two after, tops.

Did you login to your QFF via the desktop website and click on the My Account link at the top? If so, in theory you should see a yellow banner that congratulates you on earning the bonus. One thing to keep in mind if you are going to redeem it for the bonus status credits is how you want to deploy that bonus. In particular, if you have to make a choice between the loyalty bonuses after your new program year begins, you could apply the bonus status credits to the present program year or the next program year. In my case I held off (since I was already getting a 12 month extension on status) the redemption until the new program year began and applied it to that. Consequently, I re-qualified to Gold status this program year after just 41 days (250 status credits rolled over, I also applied a 50 bonus status credit thingy from earning QF Green last year, I took a couple of flights too)!

Yes, checked via desktop at the my account link. I only have a banner congratulating me retaining gold (which I did months ago). Yeah due to unfortunate timing with my QF account/ I was a NB with QF during covid, I haven't been eligible for many of the status retention/ sc roll over offers and had to climb to WP the old fashioned way. The loyalty bonus is the last thing I need to hit WP before my renew date 31st Jan, so I plan to use it this period. Hopefully it shows up soon so I can have QF WP for the first time.

Good news! Was refreshing like crazy all day and it came in! You are looking at QFs newest WP.
Congratulations on achieving Platinum status (P.S. your profile still says QF Gold)!
For anyone looking at this thread later. It came in almost exactly 24 hours after the sc credited.
This is what I generally find with Qantas. Certain transactions like receiving status credits for flights taken happen almost instantly, but things like bonus status credits (i.e. during a double status credit promotion) or to your point the loyalty bonus take a day or two to appear. Hence, sometimes the best strategy is to hold your breath and wait for it to come in. Generally, after 3 days if you don't see the desired activity post you should follow up with QF.

bump with a question - can you have two pending loyalty bonuses at the same time?

Realistically, I'm not going to hit p1, but if some upcoming flights (work using BFOD) end up with Qantas, there's a chance I'll cross the threshold for two more bonuses. Ideally I'd like to claim these in my next status year to try to retain WP (which will be within 90 days of coming eligible). Has anyone encountered this before?

I will point out that if you are a Points Club+ member (i.e. earned 350,000 QFF points in a year) one of the benefits is the ability to roll over up to 100 status credits for attaining any status level other than Platinum One. Whilst it won't help you next year in attaining Platinum One status it can make attaining Platinum status that much easier.

Yes. I've had trips where so many SCs posted in the same day that I had 3 loyalty bonuses waiting for my selection
Awesome, thanks for confirmation. I dream a dream of oneday someone funding that sort of trip for me, I imagine it was at the pointy end!

Yes, on my way to PC+, it will be a nice boost to the start of next year if I manage to scrape over the last 100k or so.

Yes I have had this - and it's a great way to get a boost on your next membership year. I've also had a loyalty bonus that I deliberately did not select yet, and then earned another one, and both showed up just fine and could be individually selected.

Hi all, I received my loyalty bonus offer after qualifying flights in early June. The offer says it will expire 30 September which is also the end of my membership year. I don’t suppose there’s a way to select the SC bonus so it lands in the next membership year? A certain flick of the wrist maybe?

I suspect you would have to ring QF to achieve this… under the bonnet QF do all their activities in UTC so assuming you are in Aus you would have to wait till well into 1st October to try to try to hit 23.59 UTC on the 30th and hope it falls into the next year - and even then I don’t think it would work - and you risk losing it if they hold to 30th September in Aus…

Thanks! That’s kind of what I was thinking. Definitely don’t want to be watching the clock and clicking at the last second, I think I’ll just take the points and remember to time any status run a bit better in future. Good to know Qantas works in UTC, thanks.

I found out the UTC thing with a wine club purchase to get 30K points to kick off my new years PC+ run - (my year finishes on the 31st March) - woke up early on the 1st April and banged in the order and was rather unhappy to see the points credited to the previous day. To be fair an anguished cry for help to the VIP team fixed it - but it took a month and several updates and clearly wasn’t trivial for them to achieve.
