HI,
I am trying to fly 1st class with AA points from LA To Aukland on FEB 17, 2006. I called at 2:30 and the flight was not loaded into the American Airlines System. At 3:30 the flight was in the system, but there was only 1 FF seat avail on the plane, and it was in coach. When do they add seats? Daily, weekly, monthly, on Sunday nights? It is very confusing. Rick

As far as I am aware they release seats daily, there may be seats released for your flight during the next 11 months or there may not be depending on the demand for paying customers. If there are lots of people paying for seats then its unlikely they will release FF seats. You really just have to ring them every day until you get what you want. With your flight being almost a year ahead you should be able to get your required dates. I always book my flights at least 10 months in advance and I have never had a problem getting the dates I want.

Firstly, I can't comment on an airline called Quantas. But I can answer your questions based on the assumption you really meant to say Qantas.

Secondly, Qantas does not operate First Class to Auckland. The only way to travel in F is to route LAX-SYD or LAX-MEL in F and then SYD-AKL or MEL-AKL in Business Class. The QF26 flight LAX-AKL is operated by a 2-class 747-400 sold as business class and economy class (no coach class on Qantas). QF25/26 will be getting the upgarde to Skybed seating commencing April.

Qantas make award seating available to their own FF members up to 330 days peior to departure date. But they do not release the availability to their partner airlines until 300 days prior to travel, giving QF members up to 30 days opportunity to grab the seats.

What about the LanChile / Qantas Code share to Akl from SYd?

QF321 I think the number is.

They have a few F seats.

Can you claim a reward on a code share like this?

No, you cannot claim an award on a QF codeshare. That would need to be claimed using his AA points as a LA award. So that would mean he needs a OneWorld award from AA to combine the QF LAX-SYD and LA SYD-AKL.

Also9 remember that the LA A340-300 only had 4 F seats, so getting any award inventory out of LA in the F cabin is very difficult. Even getting A class seats for AONEx fares is almost impossible.
