Where do you get your mask?

As the title says, Where do/did you get your mask/s from?

As it looks like masks are here to stay for a while (especially when traveling on planes/through airports) I'm curious to hear what others have been doing. Are there some you've found more comfortable than others or ones to avoid?

I had been buying a box of 50 disposable masks on Amazon for about $10 but it's becoming a bit harder to find (less stock on Amazon and now around $15 per box) although that's what I'll likely keep doing for now. Although if there is somewhere cheaper or better I'd be keen to hear.

It's worth noting that some airlines around the world now have specific requirements for masks. Qantas on inbound repatriation flights provides people with a specific mask to wear, Finnair and Lufthansa require disposable surgical or N95/P2 masks and all of the US carriers have banned any mask with a valve.

I get mine from Bunnings (click and collect of course) at 10 for $4. I was originally buying them online but slow delivery caused me issues, Bunnings usually has them ready for me the next day after I order, but of course you need 1 left over from your current supply to go get them

I have cloth masks but will still help myself to a disposable one supplied by the airline when boarding a flight to keep as spares at home or in the car...

Amazon for me too. Just bought some that look more attractive than the plain blue disposables. Cannot wear the washable ones at all and I've tried. I'm annoyed at all the extra plastic this means.

I use the ones that have cloth on the inside and a bit rexin-y on the outside. The rexin sort of leaves a mark on my skin, so I chose to wear the cloth ones inside. My flatmate ordered those in bulk online and she gave me 7 pieces. But I think I'm going to need to replace the ones I have. I'm an essential worker - so I need at least 7 masks with me - one for each day.

I guess when flying becomes a thing - airlines will be providing masks to it's pax ? like how QF & JQ give this "travel well pack" ...

I just buy the blue paper surgical ones from the chemist.
When flying I always take a spare fly well pack from QF.

I got some from Cotton Club that are good. I won't use disposable - too much plastic

Can people using disposables please remember to cut the straps before disposing of them so that if they are in the dump that birds don't get tangled in the straps

I got my cloth masks from the local chemist.

They are surprisingly comfortable to wear.

I also keep spare disposable ones in the car and in my bag (just in case).

Unfortunately, both types of masks make my glasses fog up !

I found the disposables fogged up much less than the washables, due to the metal moldable strip for a tight closure. I ordered some Uniqlo breathable ones and found them to be the worse at fogging up. I hate the concept of the disposables but if forced to wear a mask then I'd actually seek an exemption if disposables were banned because I do get somewhat panicky if say walking up the stairs to my apartment, Instead of using the lift. I get hot and breathless and fogged in. I don't get that reaction with the disposables.

I like cloth reusables, and started buying early 2020. Haven't really needed them until the ACT lockdown in August this year. But they come from the Whitlam Institute (It's Time!), ACTU, V&A (Japanese exhibition and William Morris collection), and some early ones from Etsy.

Also a specs wearer. Fogging is a pain but I just wear it, adjust as I go.

I come from Wide Bay, Qld. We've been blessed from the beginning with very little Covid. We've managed quite a few domestic flights and have always replenished our masks at Qantas boarding gates. I have the same issue with fogging glasses and find some balance with continual adjustment. I recently got some more fashionable cloth ones from a chemist with the replaceable filter pad which I'm saving for a special occasion (might need to update my outfit to match!!). On a related note I was pleased when my 13yr old got his 1st Pfizer vaccination at a walk-in clinic yesterday.

I too prefer the disposables (mainly Bunnings) because the moldable strip minimises glasses-fog and maintains a gap between the mask and my mouth and nose, which makes stairs and hills a bit easier. My lipstick-wearing friends also prefer them ... Can anyone confirm that the N95s ARE disposable in kerbside recycling bins – provided of course that rubber or cloth straps are removed. (BTW, I believe that some Terra-cycle outlets can recycle elastic bands now)

Mrs Pineapple got some double layer washable cloth ones with disposable paper inserts with PM2.5 on them (don't know what that means).

From an indig coop that seems to have gone belly up. Can't recall the name. Been reading that some airlines now won't let you fly with cloth masks on

I have made plenty of masks mainly out of silk or cotton ( Japanese kimono material I bought in Japan) with a cotton lawn lining from Spotlight, these are ok in QLD with Annastasias mask mandate for the whole state !! and I get the disposable pack from the QF lounge when I fly.

The better reusable masks also have a sewn in metal band (thicker than those in a surgical mask) to ensure a custom comfortable and tight fit across the nose and reduce glasses fogging. And for those that make their own, you can buy the strips.

When flying or needing to wear a mask for several hours i.e at theatre i wear an N95, these are most comfortable for long periods as sit out from nose and mouth. Otherwise i wear cloth masks, into which i imsert a filter if wearing indoors, no filter needed if justvwalking outside.

I findnthe surgical masks very har to breathe though, very hot, notvto mention all that unecessary landfill.
