Where does AFF stay in Singapore?

We stay at Four Seasons. Booked through Virtuoso we pay $359 for a deluxe room, including upgrade, breakfast (I think this is $45SGD per person), and a $100 F&B credit per stay, taking it to $169 a night. We use the F&B credit for drinks and/or dinner at the bar, and they let us order in-room dining for breakfast when we have an early morning departure instead of going to buffet.

I was just looking at that earlier today for a stay in Oct (a DSC LWE!). More recently stayed at Suntech (PanPac a couple of times) but never around Clarke Quay. I'm attracted to the fact that it will be very central.

Accor have a 10% of stays in Asia promo at the moment for flexiable reservations. So I think I'll do that and keep looking for a better option or inevitable Accor sale.

I have stayed at the Novotel Clarke Quay several times. I like its location on the Singapore river and opposite Fort Canning. Great to walk around the river in the evening and fort canning during the day. It also has a reasonable sized pool.

cheers

Another view for Novotel Clarke Quay, great location. Close enough to the mrt when we stayed there last.

Though I do love South Indian food so stay near bugis Mercure and Ibis both are close by and walk to little India.

Need the walk after dinner to work off some of the calories :p

Just an update for you. The missus decided on a lower budget so we went with the Oasis Novena for the first leg and will try 30 Bencoolen on the return next week.

The Oasis Novena suited us perfectly. Above an MTR and about 20 minutes to the attractions we wanted. Modern, walk in shower and a lovely pool. We would definitely stay again. Particularly at the sub $200 price point we got.

Just stayed in a newly renovated room at the Swissotel The Stamford. Not bad location wise, above Raffles City. Excellent lighting in the room and bathroom. Plenty of good food options in Raffles City. Pool is shared with The Fairmont. Room isn't huge and neither is the bathroom. Fine for a short work trip though. Disliked the fact there was no chair for the desk. You land up on the little sofa thing. Convenient enough to my Singapore office. Would consider staying there again if the price was right.

Excuse the mess in the pictures. Last minute thought of this thread and snapped a few.

I also vote for the Conrad!
After my experience last week I now vote for the Hilton rather than the Conrad. The temporary Exec lounge on lvl 4 will stay as the permanent Exec lounge and the old Exec Lounge is to become 'The Conrad Club' though no-one really seemed to know what that meant. The food offerings in the temp Exec lounge was poor overall and the hot food was awful. The service was almost non existent. The Hilton is now infinitely better IMHO.

Can I ask what room type you booked? I had understood Level 31 lounge is now only for Exec room bookings, irrespective of status.

That's correct, until they create a new class of room type called "club" apparently, to differentiate and explain why diamonds no longer get access.

I've just emailed them to clarify. My next stay is currently an exec room, but future ones are not. Will be booking elsewhere I suspect.

We were on level 27 and booked into a 'Grand King Deluxe'

The other strange thing was that this was an award booking at 49,000points which is quite cheap for the Conrad. Sometime just prior to arrival the online price changed to 49,000 points plus $S151.00. They would not budge on this until I produced a copy of the original booking. Then it was a half hearted sorry there is a system glitch. I had a similar problem last year at the Hilton Garden Inn in Singapore.

I have just cancelled my November Conrad booking and changed to the Hilton.

It looks like they won't have to worry about diamonds complaining about not getting into the 31st floor exec lounge if no diamonds stay there.

Yep. I asked for my money back on a non-refunadable stay and they graciously offered to upgrade me to the proper exec for free, after trying to make me pay for it as an upgrade. All the others are prepaid else I'd leave straight away.

To close the loop - we stayed at the 30 Bencoolen for two nights and I wouldn't recommend it. The room itself was fine and the location great but service was appalling. Check in took 35 minutes, amenities such as toilet paper weren't replaced and staff were downright rude at one point leaving my girlfriend in tears. The manager was very apologetic but it really was a bad experience.

We will stick to Oasia Novena in future visits.
