Where else would you like to be able to earn points?

The Qantas-Uber agreement includes Uber Eats, which earns at a rate of 0.27 QFF points per dollar spent (1 Uber point per dollar, 750 Uber = 200 QFF)

I do find it surprising that they went to the hassle of running this promotion and didn't continue promoting the relationship.
I just learned I had uber points!

I thought it had gone (hence "or had"). Given SkyBus has setups in MEL/BNE/HBA/OOL(sadly reduced only to Byron) and AKL (anywhere else I'm missing?) seems a rife target for a tie in. They have volume. They have an app(so one could potentially use that with skybus account as a link to a loyalty progream) so buy tix online or via the app and travel and get x QFF. Surely a win/win for all. That way a physical card or that interaction would not be required to earn.

Further QF could offer tickets in combination with packages (eg: buy a ticket to Melbourne get included hotel transfers via skybus). earn/burn QFF for tix etc. Seems to me both organisations would benefit.

At the moment Skybus is just Melbourne and Hobart. The OOL services have ended permanently and the Brisbane service remains suspended (BNE service was a joke given it cost the same as the train but twice as long). Skybus had their Velocity tie up but that since ended (perhaps due to skybus?).

A different crazy idea, you earn Qantas points for each state border pass you apply for and use! How about 200 points for a G2G pass, SA/NT/QLD border pass, VIC travel permit.

Sheesh they closed Byron Bay express on 23rd July. Pandemic! gah!

AKL appears to be (back) running since March according to their website.

oh surely a WA G2G pass must earn more. those things are harder to get than a QF international flight :p

Aside from revenue as a key driver, there's a couple of other things QF may be considering.

Firstly, there's the data benefit, accessing more consumer behavior insights to improve their algorithms.

Secondly, with their claimed 13+million members, I suspect there's plenty that are inactive. So new partners provides opportunity to reengage lapsed members.

Thirdly, my guess is that QFF's member base skews a little older (though I could be wrong). So I'd expect to see QFF look to attract a younger demo.

Given those factors, I'd been expecting deals with groups like Super Retail or Premier.

Super Retail = BCF, Rebel Sport & Super Cheap Auto... I'm generalising here - but I see them these retailers attracting more of a VA/JQ demo, so QFF might be interested in their customers/data/revenue.

Premier= Just Jeans, Peter Alexander & Smiggle, among others. Also younger.

I suspect there's also scope in new car sales. Lower volume so they'd need manufacture he sells lots of units like Toyota or Hyundai.

Re younger demo - I think QF will need to do something re mobile phone plans, internet plans, home loans etc ... the younger demo are more hooked to these businesses/services.

I remember Vodafone did something for QF points a while back, unsure if it is still on though

For instance, I'm 30 and I'd be happy to sign up to a mobile/internet plan if QF is giving sign up bonuses etc and I will be soon taking out 2x home loans, so I'd be happy to sign up for a QF point earning home loan provider, if there is some benefit for me

Indeed Vodafone is not a partner anymore. Wouldn't be surprised there is a telco partnership announcement in the coming months.

No idea if Qudos bank is any good or competitive, but you could earn qantas points with them and a home load. There is a handy calculator I just trialed, for example on a 600K loan on 30 years, you would earn 90k points in the first year with normal repayement.

There was speculation earlier in the year that Qantas would be launching their own MVNO.

Qantas would need to bring an attractive global roaming day rate to the table to have any hope of attracting serious FFs.

You can earn QF points through the mall with these places. And the upside is that all three have click and collect.
Points earning is reasonable. Supercheap: 2 points/$, BCF: 3 points/$, Rebel 4 points/$

Yes. I know. Perhaps I could have been clearer:

I’m suggesting an in-store opportunity might be something they consider. Something where you swipe you QFF card. Similar to BP.

Signage and prompting at POS would drive both awareness and new member signups.

And as they’re in the QF mall already, the move to in store isn’t a great leap.

Ah ok yes, maybe like that Velocity bonus points promo that was done a while back, the one where everyone went and bought a $1 bucket at Autobarn and other retailers.

I don 't really play video games, but I would be very curious to see how a partnership with a descent game editor could work.

If you can earn QF points in the air, on the road (BP/car hire), and now by rail, would water taxis or ferries be a stretch?

Yeah, I think there's sign up bonuses for Kayo, but the entertainment industry more broadly could do with some love.

One area no one dares to touch is prepaid funerals.

But hey, if you can earn points on life insurance, it's a natural progression! Get some points to travel before you die.

In the works still from what I've heard
Thinking of 3 different plans - $39, $59 and $79, No contracts, points based on plan. 5G based on plan type. Who knows to be honest.

See this is where I think earning Qantas points could be improved. Instead of them forcing people onto their own often worse value product it'd be great to earn from established providers instead. The old Optus/Qantas deal from 2011 to 2015 simply required you to enter your Qantas number into your profile and then the points just flowed automatically.

At $39, $59 and $79, I'd expect plans with roughly 20, 80 and 200GB per month (in line with other Optus 5G resellers). Unfortunately this prices are almost similar to Optus directly.

I think the deal may be in the expensive plan, where it may include roaming FOC in some countries.
