No takers so will reveal that it's the main square and Citadel of Erbil in Iraqi-Kurdistan.

Miraculous timing and a real treat to visit there on a whim in late 2010, to see a country emerging from years of war, just before the Arab spring and the rise of ISIL put the region on the tourism backburner again.

Wow! Very envious. When I was in Tajikistan, on the Afghanistan border two years ago, I found a tour company who would take day tours into Afghanistan.

Got their number for 'next time'. Oh well...

One of the imperial Japanese garden buildings where the emperor goes for meditation?
While the second part may be correct, I do not believe this particular temple is on palace grounds.
 
Golden temple, Kyoto

I thought it was the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. But a google search suggest the literal translation of the Japanese term commonly used to call the place is "Temple of the Golden Pavilion", so are we both right?

It is Kinkakuji indeed! Turns out it had been burned down a number of times, the one pictured earlier was rebuilt in the 50s.

The flea market had a lot of cheap clothes and appliances, a bit like a classic car boot sale in Oz. But in the arcaded building behind were a number of permanent antique and collectibles stalls.

hint: It's an iconic location.
A vineyard either in Bordeaux or Champagne region of France due to the color of the soil, pale brown/early black suitable for a light red or crisp white ...
