Love reading and living vicariously through your posts boomy and amaroo. My humble places to eat don't rate a mention...

We went to Wongs in Perth and it was quite a feed for $34. It is always comforting to have Chinese customers in the restaurant so you can think the food is "genuine".

Broadbeach - Social eating house.
Fantastic food and amazing service. A must place to try on the Gold Coast. Bookings are essential to get a table, otherwise can sit on the bar.

Was in MEL last week and went to CHINCHIN Chin Chin, Melbourne - Restaurant Reviews - TripAdvisor the place was packed, we had to head downstairs to the bar for 30 odd mins (also very busy) before being seated at the bar (upstairs). Not bad for a Monday night! Sorry, no photos.....an earlier session at the Crickets Bar (Windsor Hotel) wiped all thoughts of photo taking :)

Breakfast was at the European - excellent Baked Eggs!

Went to Momofuku Seibo in Sydney, finally. I love David Chang and his live of good food, so was expecting great things.

Unfortunately, Seibo is now just normal European fine dining - they didn't even serve their banh mi signature dish, and there were very few Asian influenced dishes. Whilst the food was great, it was disappointing because it did not live up to the hype.

Only one really memorable dish - wagyu beef stir fry with radish and watermelon.

Sapore St Kilda Sapore, st kilda

Linguine special with spanner crab, olive oil and chilli

12 Hour, twice cooked pork belly, confit celeriac, apple and a balsamic glaze

Tiramisu - The Lillico family recipe

Very enjoyable meal!

MEL: Hakata Gensuke - Legit Tonkatsu Ramen. I'll definitely be going back. Even with the 45 minute wait on a Saturday night.

Was also good to catch up with Boomy

[-]Surface[/-]Surfers Paradise:
• Seaduction - a fine dining restaurant located in hotel Soul. Romantic atmosphere, perfect for couples.

I finally got to try this for my birthday dinner in September and it was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to go back if I had deeper pockets.

Brisbane - loving Fat Noodle st Treasury Casino. Owned by Luke Nguyen - best laksa i have ever had, amazing pho too. Don't be put off by the fact that it is in the casino building.

Gave it a shot Friday night. Laksa was good, but I've had better.

I had a meal there courtesy of 3AW's the Rumour File. One of the many prizes I have won this way. A great meal.

I don't mind giving away the secret to my success, now that avenue has been cut out. I subscribe to 3RRR, and several years ago they had a weekend show called "The Spin" which had several spin doctors as well as Trades Hall's Brian Boyd. They had a segment where they related the latest rumours they had heard. I actually rang them and asked if they didn't mind me recycling the rumours through 3AW. They were tickled pink, and made a point of letting subscribers know how their show could be utilised. I can't remember which rumour let to the Sapore lunch, but I passed on some which made the newspapers the next day.

Sadly, "The Spin" disappeared, but not until I extracted several thousand dollars of prizes from 3AW. And I'm not exaggerating. Two weekly prizes, and about 10 daily ones.

Those were the days.

Sorry, off topic, but Sapore is recommended. Even if you have to pay. :D

Brisbane - Moda Restaurant.
Good place for couples, loved the decor.
Had a very nice seafood dinner matched with Spanish wine while enjoying live performance by a Spanish singer.
Grilled Scampi and Pan fried Sardines.

Christchurch - Tequila Mockingbird
Latin fusion restaurant with a menu designed to share.
I will definitely go back.
