Where the heck is Ko Tau?

S'ok. We are here for another hour. Then four hours in Sydney.

Then 9 hours in J. Moët. That'll work well enough.

And gosh, was that bubbly cork calling my name? Of course.

It's only 10 am here but I can taste it.... Must admit to 4 Cosmos in the lounge last night. They weren't very strong though I'm sure.

Leaving Adelaide on a stunning day.

Our shack near the Murray Mouth is just over there. With Langhorne Creek vineyards in the foreground.

And Sydney a little gray.

We've just had our first "mini" night in Thailand. We arrived Thai time at 1am which was around 4.30am our time. The connections we have to take out of Adelaide added 6 hours to our travel day.

The Emirates flight to BKK left at 7.45pm and having arrived 15 minutes late from Christchurch I think the crew were trying to catch up those 15 minutes of pre flight prep.

As we were taxiing out most of the overhead lockers in J were still open and remained so during the safety talk. Pre flight drinks had only just been dispensed and were half consumed so glassware everywhere.

Finally as we waited to rev up they were closed up.

Dinner took well over 2 hours to arrive and the nuts were quickly consumed while waiting. There was a 15 minute break for turbulence.

MrP received the wrong meal (they had pre ordered) and one crew person just shrugged and asked him if he wanted wine; the other was surprised and changed the meal with not even a sorry. Small things I guess.

I gave up waiting for sweets and went to sleep with tray on top. MrP gave up waiting for his tea and did likewise.

I slept a few hours but was woken up by the loudest snoring. Not MrP, he is quiet. But by this obese gentleman who was in the middle seat. He was sprawled over his seat and the empty seat next to him, flat on his back and going for it.

His arm was into the aisle and it was such a shame when I bumped into it while retreating, moving forward to "the facilities". ;). Shame he woke up. :p.

When I slid open the door the man was just standing in front of the door completely blocking me from returning to my seat. He seemed surprised he had to get out of my way so he could access the same facilities. I just gave him "my look" as MrP describes it and he moved.

We weren't offered any refreshments then until landing so around 6 hours after dinner.

30 minutes out we had to ask for immigration cards. Oh yeah, that's right. Those things.

But we landed safe and sound so that's good.

I thought the men's and women's kits were generic as they were the same colour.

But when MrP showed me his kit it was much larger than mine.

Men's. Very well kitted out.

Women's kit

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1419740542.787570.jpg

Clearly women have no need for anti perspirant as we don't sweat, but glisten. I would have liked an anti-glisten. :p

And we had three interlopers from Y within the first hour who simply shoved open the curtain to use the bathroom. The crew didn't give a hoot.

We are staying at Chillax resort. It's Central I think and 10 mins from Khao San Road. Good price at $130 a night although our back packer son would say we've been ripped off.

It has a (very busy) rooftop pool.

The golden Buddha I will visit when we return to have my fortune told.

It celebrates Christmas and Buddhism (Hindu?) in the way Australian authorities aren't able to do as its deemed politically incorrect.

Seems a little odd that the mens kit has more in it to me as well...

That aside, keep up the good work :)

Breakfast at the hotel is expensive at 250 baht each (that's like $18! ) so we wander 30 paces out where there is a row of restaurants and we enjoy coffees, croissants and juice for around $3. Bargain.

I enjoy looking at the electrical configurations. While HaNoi and India have been the worst I've seen, this is pretty impressive.

Fried Squirrel?

Not a fan of cider but at 3pm this does the trick.

Because of the wonderful street food

Two plates of spring rolls later it's back to the hotel to prepare for dinner.

Actually we are thinking of pizza. That's really sad, isn't it!

An early start tomorrow. Flying to Koh Samui at 9am and then a ferry across to Koh Tau. MasterP is already there and warned us to take sea sick tablets. Sigh. He said people on his ferry were very green.

I'm hoping for another QM2 experience where I was fine.

I see a Greek ferry is on fire. Looks like the one we were on. It would be packed with tourists.

And an AirAsia plane gone by the look of it. MrLtL is not a good flyer at the best of times!
Hope the sea sickness doesn't get you!

Enjoy your presumably Bangkok Air flight (with it's interesting lounge offering).

Why did you pick Chillax in Bangkok versus the many other options?

Yes. Bangkok air it is. I see that everyone can use the lounge with free drinks etc?

I have no idea why I picked Chillax. :p. It did get good reviews on booking.com.

On our return next week we are staying at a Crowne Plaza so different.

I don't like their bathroom set up. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1419771496.433806.jpg

This flimsy curtain separates the bed from the bathroom and toilet. It's just weird and just tmi. Ok if you are both well and can access other loos but in the middle of the night - not so much.

Forget the pizza and Thai it is.

Banana milkshake and some spicy condiments. (No alcohol tonight )

Pad Thai and Red Curry.

Great work on the TR. I could have recommended you some great restaurants for pizza in the sukhumvit area. Interested in the hotel as well, not really a central location (khao Shan road isn't really central) but if you are just hanging out in that area then perfectly fine. Sounds like the flight wasn't really up to scratch for business class.

Also 250 baht is only about $9 not $18!
