Should I use my complementary Q club pass at MEL or LHR? Is either one better? I assume there is one at LHR. I'm flying business so can use the business lounge at either airport.

If you are flying J return you will have lounge access, there will be no need to use your QC pass

You won't be able to use it at LHR so that answers your question.

And yes as you are in J, you won't need the pass anyways.

Why not at LHR, no Q club there? I have to use the pass before it expires anyway

Since you will derive no value from the passes (you have lounge access anyway) why not find someone deserving (friend, family, colleague) and let them benefit...

QFi MEL J lounge is in the basement.
No windows to outside view.
If for any reason you get to fly EK, take the opportunity and fly with them.

If you use the pass before this flight, the staff member will scan your business boarding pass and tell you that you have access anyway. You can hand it over and it'll be pointless, you can put it in the bin or you can give it away... choose your poison.

As others have pointed it, if you really wanted to use it, MEL is the only option as there is no Qantas operated lounge at LHR until next year.

If the EK lounge is open, he will have access to it.

Just to clarify: a QF J passenger would have access to the EK lounge in Melbourne but not at Heathrow T3 where one of BA (QF), CX (assuming travel Sep 2016 or later) or AA Lounges could be used.

Regards,

BD

Correct! Sorry i was referring to Mel, but didnt specify

Of course noting the thread that the QC pass won't get into the MEL (or any) EK lounge. I realise this is not relevant as the OP is in J, but thought I'd point that out :)

Just as an aside, my wife and adult daughter are flying Y with me to ATH via DXB in Sept on EK but with a QF flight number. I am a Qantas Club member so can get my wife into DXB lounge and my daughter has some Qantas Complimentary Lounge passes - will this allow her into the DXB EK lounge with us?

Simply put - no.

Is it no? I was under the impression a qf flight number on ek let you access ek lounge as a qantas club including use of complimentary passes. It isn't explicitly cited as a limitation cf lhr lounges. Happy to be proved wrong but i intended to gift a couple of passes for this scenario.

Qantas single-use lounge passes can only be used at Qantas owned and operated lounges.

Even as a QP member, you will only receive access in DXB on a QF number and not other airports on the way back to AU.

The single use passes state the limitations of use on the back of the pass.
