About to book and pay for 6 return economy tickets (SYD-NAN) departing anytime next month.
The price differences between Air Pacific, Jetstar and Virgin are fairly insignificant and loyalty awards are not a consideration. Can anyone advise which airline they would choose on this route based predominantly on flight experience and comfort alone?
Many thanks.

Either FJ or VA. Probably FJ mostly hoping for the 744 and free food.

There's little in it, so go for the best schedule.

Air pacific is the only one of the three airlines that are full service. In other words food and drink. It is about a 5 hour flight after all.

Agree with Air Pacific over any of the others specially if it is the 747.

The Qff point haul is OK as well, interestingly QF are cheaper than FJ if booking one way ex NAN at under AUD$300.

Air Pacific it is a 747 - if it is just a 737, maybe a rethink. The meals aren't too bad - it is a longer flight than you think.

If its a 737 there's really nothing to choose (va 737 and jq a320). So the food and/or timing should be the decider.

Depends on Y or J.

As someone who tried FJ in Y for the first time recently (738 there, 744 back) I found the 738 significantly more comfortable. On the 738 I had 26C (aisle, just behind the exits) and on the 744 I had 15H (aisle, front row top deck). The 744 seat was uncomfortable, and the temperature was far too warm - I was sweating the entire flight.

The food in Y was absolute rubbish. There was a wrap containing something that was supposed to be chicken. Coming back was a stale small croissant. I'm glad I ate in the First lounge, and the Tabua lounge before the respective flights :)

J on the other hand (which I've done numerous times) - 744 without a doubt.

We are about to fly DJ from BNE for the 2nd time. I just go for schedule. It's 4 hrs from BNE & DJ are best schedule. Get you there for happy hour.

I would fly on Air Pacific over DJ.

On Air Pacific and you might get lounge access if you can in NAN.
