BPay anp Post Billpay are different. Post Billpay is operated by Australia Post, BPay is a different organisation.

Credit cards can also be used to bpay if your bank allows it and the merchant accepts it. Ask your bank how if not sure.

Oh i didnt know that

I have yet to see a place that sccepts bpay but not credit cards.

Why is everyone trying to push credit cards throigh bpay?

Because, where permitted, points can be earned without a surcharge or where credit cards aren't accepted.

I can make a strata fee DEFT payment by BPay but not by credit card. I can pay into several super funds by BPay but not by credit card.
I'm sure there would be many more examples.

O oh I see. Can I assume there ret No Other bill payments that are usually EFT only that you might be able to use a credit card obviously paying a credit card with another credit card for home loan is not going to be accepted

Is there anything else that is not widely known that might be able to pay by credit card instead of EFT

One of my suppliers uses bPoint which is operated by Com Bank. I pay using my visa but am not sure if this is vendor specific.

I pay a lot of bills via postbill pay. Virtually all of them dont accept amex but the option of paypal does come up

I dont have paypal but ive been told you can register your amex card to it

Most of my bills are council rates etc. Do they all accept paypal?

Maybe this is a way to use amex for all transactions.

Is it correct to say there are no cards that pay points on BPay and can also transfer to SPG?

I'm looking to diversify into AA points earn, but my non-ATO and BPay spend is probably not high enough to justify the Amex Plat Charge. The Diners/MC combo looks OK but people seem to be having a lot of issues with chasing up points etc which I don't really have the patience for.

Amex doesn't have BPay functionality. Diners is a possibility from the MasterCard registering it for internet banking on the Citi site. Reports I've seen on AFF in other threads suggest this is no longer allowed.

Will need to remove Citibank from that list as of 18/03/16.

Does that mean the only Bpay cards left are those that direct sweep into QFF, with no alternative points earning cards available?

I don't understand this thread.

I think it was with my ANZ Qantas FF card (but I could be wrong), that I tried to Bpay from the credit card. The pop-up message then warned me that any Bpay transaction from the card would be treated as a cash-advance, with cash advance fees applicable and interest charged from day one.

This made the whole exercise quite unattractive, as I would have been paying more in interest and cash advance fees than what I thought the points were worth (I value them at about a cent a point), so I cancelled the transaction.

Do all these other banks not charge the cash advance fee when Bpaying from their credit cards?
Do some of them specifically not treat a Bpay from a credit card as a cash advance (since cash advances are generally excluded from earning points)?

Regards,
Renato

I've never come across a situation where it was treated as a cash advance. Banks have been progressively removing points on BPay. Assuming they would now be few and far between.

Same scenario here with my NAB plat, treated as a cash advance. Likewise, I declined to go that route.

If the two others accept paypal via post billpay, then you can link your Amex to paypal.

Both councils I pay rates to have stopped Paypal via BillPay and Amex.
Post BillPay is now "only in person" - and when you rock up to the Post Office paymernt options are debit card, cheque or cash.
However both accept BPay with 0.5% charge: I paid by BPay from our JQ MCs and got our QFF 1:1 points.

I'm loving my JQ MC with 1:1 earn and widely accepted - I had no idea I could BPay and earn points on it. (I planned to churn it after the bonus points posted but just cant bring myself to)

I think I can pay my electricity bill with paypal via billpay, but council rates, car rego, insurance and water have the "in person" clause for me. Some of these have a surcharge for paying by CC so I will BPay from the MC next time - instead of my savings account
