Hi,
Sorry as always I have questions to ask, maybe one day I will be able to offer some advice to someone but at this stage still learning and loving it - great forum !!

I need to go to LAX and YVR in march and just looking into booking and getting some good pricing, earning sc's is also a priority as have just qualified for Silver and looking to reach gold before end of June.

I haven't read about anyone using the OW cirle fares are these a good option?

Just some further information, I have heaps of points so looking to put in for an upgrade from Economy to Business, any feedback on availability?

If FF points are a priority, a LONE4 isnt much more expensive than a LCIRC fare and will allow you lots of flights around the word to get the points you want and will allow you to get to YVR and LAX.

I would also suggest for status that you might want to consider a Candy Thief challenge on AA (see details in "TIPS") , since a simple AA return SYD-LAX in L class will get you AA Platinum ( OW Sapphire ) without any need to hunt around for SCs, plus will give you better redemption rates. A LONE4 plus a WT+ upgrade on a UK-OZ will get you most of the way towards the requalification requirements for the next year

To Fly with Cathay or Qantas which is better?

Thanks for the imput dave :)

I now have more questions

Due to time restraints I am considering two options

1) Flying with Qantas on the following route adl-syd-lax-yvr-lax-syd-adl in V class, from what I can gather these are upgradable flights (except lax-yvr) and I will earn approx 150sc's

or

2) Flying with Cathay on the following route adl-mel-hkg-yvr-lax-hkg-mel-adl in V Class, I can't upgrade but will earn approx 190sc's

After this trip I will qualify for QF Gold so I have decided not to worry about the AA Challange !!

But I have 2 other people flying with me who maybe should do the AA Challange but they don't have plans to fly again until next year so is it worth doing in this case?

I was going to suggest they join QC to get lounge access on the trip?
