Hi brains trust! Flying to LAX on QF11 (economy) in March. I will be arriving 4+ hours before flight boarding so was considering buying access to either The House or Plaza Premium… be a bit bougie and start holiday off on a good note 😄 Has anyone used either recently and has any preference/comments/advice? Are there any other lounges you can pay to use with no membership (or credit card access) that I’m missing? Cheers!

I know the one i wouldn't use: The House

When i went here three weeks back, around brekky time, the toaster was out of order, plates weren't on rack, service was poor.

On my way out I got the person at desk to reverse the charge put on Priority Pass

If you are interested in seeing what the food is on offer at The House I found this review useful - it is a little older (from 2023) but be good to hear whether it is still similar from others who have been more recently. Might help you decide whether paying the entry fee is worth it for the food. The House Lounge Sydney Airport Food and Nutrition Review

The title of this thread is very interesting. I'm currently at Syd Intl waiting for my delayed flight on TR to Singapore.

So I entered airside around 10 am and went to the AMEX lounge and was told it was full, come back later.

Then I went to the House and was told to come back 2 hours later, as I could only enter 3 hours before boarding using PP.

Then I went to the Plaza Premium and was admitted without any hassles. I'm now enjoying the OK food and drink (3 kinds of self-pour red wine), with a nice view of the apron and runway.

So, a clear choice.

I visited the PP lounge in SYD late last year and when I showed my AmEx Platinum card the agent at the door seemed genuinely confused that I'd chosen PP over the AmEx Centurion lounge -- she even suggested that I use the AmEx lounge. But I was perfectly happy with PP and once seated, overlooking the tarmac, gin & tonic in hand, I had no inclination whatsoever to go the the AmEx!

Yes was happy with my choice in the end. It’s a very small lounge but as mentioned great views & good free drinks… I enjoyed a few mimosas! The 2 hours I was there, I caught the end of lunch (noodles, chicken wings, spring rolls, curry puffs, cakes) and then they also bought out afternoon tea (sandwiches, cheese & crackers etc) so that was a good time to go (2:30-4:30pm) 😃
