Which Partner Memberships Would You Choose?

In the status match I took HH Gold... but found I couldn't afford it anyway, so went back to choosing the best price for rooms, and splurging in the air. Didn't bother with car rental as I haven't needed it yet.

not bad for my 1st privilege SG hire.. 1040 points for $170 hire

I suppose the best time to register for partner membership is after April 1 (to get over 12 months?)

Can anyone confirm?

I just got Platinum last month and joined up with with HH and Hertz.. I only got signed up to base blue on HH and Base Gold on Hertz... Is this normal? Does it take some time to come through? What was others experience?

HH took around 7-10 days for Diamond to show, no email only noticed when monthly statement came in.
Hertz will be the top level but no idea on time frame. My Europcar last year took around 10 days and was sent an email confirmation.I think velocity email says wait 20 days then contact them if no contact or change in account level.
Were you a member of each before signing up for the status match.

Hey, thanks Hydrabyss,

No, I was not a member of any first.. It has been about a month now, I might call Virgin Velocity.

I did call HH, but they knew nothing of the offer.. It did sound like I was speaking with someone in the US who did not even know of the existence of Virgin Australia as they kept referring to Virgin Atlantic.

I remember reading that Europcar had one staff member handling all the matches.Cant see other companys being mutch different.
With Hilton I decided to sign up before hand as I thought this may make it easier for them.

Another point of difference between Europcar and Hertz is that Europcar Executive (gold match) members have to "buy" additional drivers rights whereas Hertz allows any over 25 driver from the hirers immediate family or same company work colleague.

OK so it's April 2nd, which by most accounts is the date to maximize HHons membership.
I've just applied for Gold and will probably attempt to upgrade that to Diamond some time after I get Velocity Plat later in the year.

I think I'll also apply for Hertz now and then Europcar after I hit Plat (assuming I get 2 bites on status change).

What's everyone else doing?

I did get a second pick at it when I went from Gold to Platinum. I went HH and Hertz.. I have had read a few good reports for Europecar from people on here..

That said, Hertz worked, HH did not.. Still trying to sort that one out now..

Just entered VA Gold-land, and don't have much car-hire travel until the end of the year and beginning of next.

I think I'm pretty set on HH - but can't figure out whether to go with Hertz or Europcar.

I think I'm leaning towards Hertz. Can anyone give a general indication of how their rates compare?

I would have said Europcar over Hertz given the discount that was on offer, with it gone I suspect Hertz have the front, and Hilton is a no brainer

I chose Hilton and am very happy.

However what I discovered with Europcar is that you can also receive Le Accor Club Gold with Europcar Executive status.

That has been removed as of 2014.

I opted Europcar last year at executive level.Only used them twice and they have come accross fairly good both times.Last was at Darwin and received an Xtrail when I booked a Cruise.Quite pleased till I seen the fuel price($1.65) and the 130km speed limits.Geez it drank some fuel, I got similiar millage out of the V8 Holden Caprice from thrifty last month and alot more fun to drive.Although have been told by thrifty if you get an upgrade you dont like they will change it so would imagine others are the same.
Has anyone any experience with the Hertz presidents circle as I was considering taking the offer over upgrading Europecar to Elite.

Europcar were great - until the discount disappeared!
