Will look at the apple way/Samsung Galaxy when its time to upgrade.
Hope that OLCI system ability on the website will work for me in Jul.
Samsung Core J2 defo not compatible, android8.1.0.
Edit, ((Samsung Galaxy S9 series will work, compatible, and will download the QF app)).
Prices start at $347 at Officeworks, which is ok.

After sitting down and going bit by bit by bit, the QF/QFF app is on the Samsung Core on 8.1.0.
Its not on bookmark where everything else is, but down the bottom, using thumb up to go down the bottom.
Thought it would be in bookmarks, where its by swiping across.
On laptop the QFF bit says, it says, "this app is available on some of your devices", and huawei lu2 which I don't use any, and the xgody have an x in front of them, but the core2 says its there, with a tick.
So as I had some time, looking bit by bit, its there.
A Ok, back to "normal runway operations, thanks for your attention".

Had some free time, so decided to have a first look at the QFF app.
So far so good, easy to maneuver, points from my latest non flying activities there, so, for now, looks all ok.
Just needed your QFF pin to log in, and with the 3 questions answered.
So will wait for the Jul flight 24 hours prior to flight, to try to get BP on it.

Slightly off topic as it isn't app related...
One thing that works very well with the Pixel is being able to make it hold the line for you. While waiting 3 hours on the phone with Qantas is frustrating, this makes it more pleasant as you don't have to listen to the hold music either. It just transcribes everything and buzzes me when someone picks up on the other side and so far, they haven't hung up on me 🤞

I have selected my J seat.
Its the E100, E190, so there is that one side that has only a single row, unless I get moved to a 737.
As its a J seat, they didn't ask for any extra fees.
It shows up in the app.
Heh, that is a very good tip aaa99.

For anyone reading this thread in the future I'd just make a general comment that all the phone makers make higher end devices and lower end ones. One needs to evaluate the need vs what will work (if budget and choice are constrained). What I mean is that it was mentioned earlier a potential to obtain a Samsung S series phone with the intent to be used for thr QF app (let alone others). The S series is the flagship (well currently anyway) and most of them have some pretty impressive specs (I have a S20+ myself) and do all kinds of pretty neat things, run multiple apps fast and so on... that's great.

However it would be overkill to have such a device for simple use - most of the features, bigger memory, CPU power, cameras etc would add almost nothing to a basic experience (well it would be faster I guess :) ) nor 5G etc. This is why I earlier suggested the Samsung A series, which is midrange - still very good specs depending on the model - but would be ideal for every day use of things like current apps, email, web browsing etc.

I guess my point is that one could spend way too much money on a phone for the intended use and that would be a waste potentially. Even me with a S20+ I didn't go for the highest spec model (I think it's called the Pro, or something like that) because sure, had some sweet extras in it, I knew this is not something I personally would find value or use for every day compared to the price so I opted out. Truth be told I could probably do with an A7x series but the back camera specs pulled me over the line). That's just me of course. Everyone is different.

I commented earlier about Apples (and I too am surprised at how back the IOS support goes - pretty impressive actually) and this is certainly a factor in their favour. I live in a Android world obviously, but that is just my long term usage preference - I'm about advocating what's the best fit for each particular user - so ease of use, functrionality, specs, pros and cons can vary depending on the "mission" of the device and the user - for example I would probably recommend an apple to an older person or someone who finds technology a bit of a challenge, for ease of use and general support... but I might suggest a Google Pixel for a more power user, or a Samsung Pro for someone who wants the top phone cameras and the like.

So, consider the potential use and exactly what features might be more useful and worthwhile vs the "shiny" factor of the biggest and best (again specially when budget is an issue, because these bad boys and girls do not come cheap - even the older models or grey imports).

This is really just a general comment not related at all to using the QF app.

Google has just launched Google Wallet today, as the central repository for things like boarding passes. Interested to see what phones support it and when QF does.

Thanks for sharing. Most of these items are already possible, but digital IDs (if the relevant state govs support it - not holding my breath) and boarding passes will be great.

Google Pay has done much of those things for a while. Indeed, as the article notes, in Australia seems Pay will just be renamed Wallet.

Only in US and Singapore will there be two apps

Google pay (which is the ap being rebranded) already had ability to store boarding passes just not QF ones (a case of QF choosing not to integrate), i have jetstar boarding passes from Jan 2021 sitting in Google Pay now under expired passes along with Hamilton tickets from 2021.

Digital ID is supported in NSW in service nsw app, the one we all had to download for covid checkins in 2020 and also in the AusPost app.

Learned something new! Apparently VA have supported BPs in Google Pay since 2018... I must have taken close to 100 VA flights in that time and never noticed the save button in the app, will need to look a little more carefully next time.

Went to Coles, got an $129 LTE X delight, and wow, yes, this one too works for the QFF appl
Very good.
Indeed the xgody is poor, thought it was ok, then no sim, no bars, nothing works...
Bought the X delight, put same sim in, and every thing works 100%.
32gb no less, so very satisfied.
Will be ready to try DPD on this maybe next year, one trip either to NZ again, when they open their borders fully later this year or next.
Thanks again, everyone.
