Who goes into QP after they land?

I tend to use boarding passes as book marks. I had flown a few days prior and then had to pick a friend up from a rather fogged in Canberra airport. Rather than wait in arrivals I cleared security and flashed my boarding pass at the QP desk. Made a coffee and found a seat in the crowded QP. Got chatting to a gentleman nearby who asked which was my delayed flight. Bit of a surprised look on his face when I told him what I was doing. Hmm, maybe next time I should choose a random destination.

If i have time to fill great chance to get a coffee, check email.
The arrivals lounged like T5 LHR are fantastic if you arrive in the morning and want to freshen up if you can't check into or don't want to check into your hotel.

At the moment QF Platinums have anytime access to the Domestic Business Lounges at BNE and SYD.

I am not sure what is happening in MEL, as we are getting conflicting reports about anytime access, but they are not really part of Australia so it is irrelevant. :p ;)

The Peoples Republic of Victoria?

This is our conversation a couple of weeks ago - I have been turned away at MEL J trying for anytime access - in fact Flashware was in the QP at the time after the Grand Prix... I was trying to take a couple of friends in...

I think BNE is easy - the front dest assumes you will be getting a BP on the other side of the doors, SYD, I can't guess at that one

Mr!

Mr!

You did have 2 guests with you, and on a normal day the J Lounge only allows 1 guest doesn't it?

I guess though that if the lounge is not busy you still get access to the J lounge most of the time anyway, so far i have not been turned away once when at the airport waiting for people to arrive or similar.

You are probably right. I was getting anytime access to the business lounge at BNE and SYD well before the unofficial change to the terms and conditions come into effect. Those southerners are way too strict on the terms and conditions for my liking....

I have to admit I quite often frequent the SYD J lounge after arriving back home. As others have said when in the first few rows you can easily head upstairs for a beer or 2 then head back down and grab your luggage if you have any.

Quite often I have projects near airports so each day I'll finish work and head to the QP for a few afternoon beers. The bar girls start to give me srange looks after frequenting the same QP 5 or more days running - it certainly leads to interesting conversation with them anyway... ;)

Went into the SYD Qantas Lounge last night at ~9:45pm and had 2 vodkas and a Pure Blonde when I went downstairs my 2 bags had appeared at the carousel and just as I was walking outside my father had pulled up to pick me up.
