Hi All,

Just curious who here have FF status based on personal holiday travel? i.e. not travelling for work. Are there many? :)

The best I got up to on personal travel was silver for MH and VS.

I have CX gold but that's via amex.

Thanks,
K.

Work travel accounts for a very very small percentage of my SCs (for my current membership year I have WP requal already booked and paid for on leisure travel so any work travel will just add to the life time tally)

Well not entirely. Of about 1500 SC's I'll earn in my current year, only about 100 have come from travel paid for by someone else. And even that is not "work" as such - it's some volunteer stuff I do where costs are reimbursed.

When I was at uni, my FF status was earned on 100% holiday travel. Was certainly a lot easier doing holiday travel as a student with all that free time (3 month vacations in between semesters, plus mid semester 1-2 week breaks).

Unfortunately that was 3 years ago. Now in the real world - 4 weeks' annual leave.

My first job after leaving uni required some travel to SFO. So managed to earn status based on a combination of work and personal travel.

Current job allows access to staff travel so zero Points/SCs on those. Was handy for my weekly commutes back to MEL whilst sorting out our relocation to BNE. But we do long haul personal travel on firm fares (either redemptions or revenue) which, together with a few domestic Flexi fares and Family Pooling (the SCs are my reward for being the travel agent :p), helped with Platinum tier retention.

Holiday no.
Personal yes.

I don't consider visiting family and friends as holidays :)

I think I have earned 50SC from non personal travel. Definitely a SFSC here - the benefit of shift work and being able to take advantage of mid-week prices.

And I am still waiting for the elusive DSC offers. ;(

my work travel this year has been about 40SC i think - expecting it to explode next year though

"why fly direct when you can connect", double SC, JASAs and a couple of ex-TPE runs make all the difference :)

Not exactly high in the FF status, but without holiday travel I would be a NB... I was doing a lot more travel until 2010, now it's a few work flights (typically a CBR-SYD once a year, and 2 to 3 CBR-MEL's a year) a year and when ever I can convince the missus to let me escape for the weekend, and that she herself could also join me (both rather difficult with 4 young kids needing to arrange babysitters, and getting the missus onto planes is not easy as she hates flying with a passion)

Nice so you go on holidays a lot? :) or do status runs in AUS/USA? :)

Actually not a lot no, for next year no DSC, no SC run, just 2 J returns to Europe and a weekend to AKL (in whY on QF, don't fancy the early morning LAN flight) do it :D

All holidays, trips for me for points etc.
Any work flights was usually on white nuckle airlines, ie govt jet:shock: dropping things off and back in plane in 10 minutes.
Any other work flights no points allowed, and usually involved dropping off and getting straight back on plane.

I am also a SFSC. My trips are between SYD and MEL to visit family and friends (plus other personal travel) gave me a taste of QF PS. With the DSC offer (and a JASA run), I managed to get to QF SG.

In short, yes. I have FF status solely based on holiday (non-business/personal) travel.

40 of my 8,230 LT SC's have been earned from holidays, so I guess for me the answer is no.....

Similar profile here - in fact probably less as all my leisure travel in the past six years has been award travel and thus non-earning.
